Post-Game Talk: Habs good. Habs win.

MSL has done wonders with Cole Caufield...his 200 foot game is impressive

Yes, I remember one sequence where Suzuki got caught deep on a counter, and Caufield just skated liked a mad man to cover the middle of the ice, ended up helping breaking a play.

Never hesitates to put the back in behind the D and go to work when needed, great on the break out.

He is playing the best hockey of his career right now.

They weren't executing it till late November and that's when the team started to wake up and have success. We have beaten some very good teams, on the road no less. Go Habs!
Not just waking up, it was getting Laine and Carrier (especially) and the lineup adjustments MSL could then make

Yup and I just love his attitude, great kid

Dare I say it ... is the rebuild over? :eek3:

If not, it will be this summer.
I don't know if it is over, but unless they stop playing the way they have on this run, I see no reason why we won't make the playoffs.

We are solid from top to bottom and both goalies are playing well. It is fun to watch.

Anyone make out what Slaf said to Dobes ? Something Cesko, lol. Probably an "insert insult" Czech, but couldn't make it out.

Sorry, I meant in previous years. They were Tom Wilson doo doo to start the year.

This team is night and day man they have me in complete awe lately. I don't understand how you can look as shit as we did to all of a sudden whatever the hell this is. All lines are playing such solid hockey and the effort is off the charts. Just swarming their prey.

It's f*cked up and I love it

I think the rebuild is unofficially over. Next year will be the start of Lord Stanley's quest.

What would be ideal, is to squeak in a stanley cup this year like the 86 habs (roy/dobes) and a bunch of rookies. Monty is basically our Steve Penny.

I was there when they beat Atlanta late in the season before the strike. Cliff Floyd, with a home run. Magical moment. Felipe Alou and MSL, great leaders that players will follow and play for.
Still remember the classic quote by Felipe (I hear his unique voice inflection and pronunciation whenever I reminisce)::

"I bo-lieve, that we hayve, an excitin', yaounnnnnnnng baoclobbbbe."

Habs are

This has been explained numerous times, but many refused to listen.

The huge hole at 2C and the youngest D in the NHL playing in their wrong chairs, and no help from our backup netminder, and also no Laine to start the year all had a terrible effect on this team.

Scotty Bowman couldn't have made that team look any better.

We finally got players back, and added some much needed help on D and in net and we finally have a team able to run 4 lines and a D in their right chairs capable to execute on the system.

Yes Caufield improved since the start of the season, he doesn’t get burned defensively like he used to.

It kinda reminds of how they were down and out against the Leafs and then went on that run to the finals. Someone must've had a Weber moment in the locker room.

Carrier also brought some of that hometown pride fairy dust to the locker room. I can only imagine what kind of fairy dust Hage will bring with him when he's ready.

This is the first time since 2007-2008 that I actually enjoy the system this team plays. Well, unlike what many here were saying, they were already playing a fun system despite the losses under MSL. However, the way they're creative, breaking the rush, defending the house, transitioning so quickly, everything is done with speed. They look like Florida. I won't get too excited though as we need to see this over a season or three. A month or two isn't enough.
Ya very well said especially the Florida comparison. Totally agree with that it's beautiful.

Can see the Habs follow same fate as them too - dog it into final WC spot, take out the #1 leafs in 7 AGAIN, then make the SCF. Win or lose we for sure win the next year with demidov so all good either way.

I could genuinely see that happening too. Still lots of hockey left and playoffs are obviously a different animal....But a crazy run wouldn't shock me at all if they keep playing with this swagger.

And then when the Crown Prince comes next season…

Ok sure but you gotta admit the effort was not there. Team looked lost. This is a completely different team idk if anyone saw this coming. I definitely didn't
