It sucks that we’ve had picks in the wrong years. No blue chip star. We’ll have to see who pans out. With any luck we’ll have another high pick this year and go from there.
What’s your level of trust with our scouting? We’ve done well with later picks but have concerns with Bobrov owning major influence on final decisions taken and on account of his abysmal record with early round Euro players selected under his guidance (he only held a European scout title with NYR but I understand that he was able to take over scouting meetings when Gorton was in NY).

I’m probably the wrong guy to ask. I don’t follow prospects the way others do. Most of what I watch is at the NHL level.

So take it for what it’s worth:

2022 looks like a pretty damn good draft. Obviously we have to wait on Slaf but Hutson , Beck and Mesar look awesome. Plus Dach looked like a great move before he got hurt.

2023… I can understand why we went the way we did. I’d have taken the Russian but he was small and we’ve already got CC and Hutson on the way. I wish we could’ve drafted a little higher.

We’ve had terrible luck in terms of drafts and placement. One year later we’d have had Bedard.

Just stick with the rebuild and see where it goes.

If you want to be more depressed, just watch the highlights of the other games and count the goals we would not be able to score. Seriously it's about 70% of the goals. You know, all the top corner goals, the one timers, the beautiful passing plays, the tic tac toes, the backhands, etc. We can't score those...

it was the same last year, posters kept saying there's no way we get a top 5 pick and then we did. The hot start and fans were saying no this year now there's no way this team gets top 5 pick they are just too good. I kept saying this team can't score, can't win in regulation and the goaltending would come back down to earth.

The Habs are in a lot of trouble as they stink and have almost nothing to write home about. If they don't get a big leap from several prospects/young players this rebuild will either fail or take that much longer.
Concern is the same as always when it comes to years where the Habs are slated to get a top pick — will we finally get to draft an elite scoring center that falls to us on account of how high he’s ranked (assuming the org’s scouting and independent ranking services have it right for early picks and who is not a reach for needs)?

How high do we need to draft to have a reasonable chance to get that player this year?

We came one pick away from landing one of the top 4 centres in the draft last year, so frustrating.

If you want to be less depressed, remember that we’ve just started a rebuild and things will get better in the future.

Yeah it sucks. Being two away from Fantilli really sucks. Nevermind Bedard. Unfortunately we’ve gotten rally unlucky in that front.

So the game we played and beat Boston doesn't matter, but this one does?

It's pretty obvious a large contingent of the fan base will pick and choose based on which option has the most depression in store for them.

Yup I agree. Of course we suck but we’ve had some big wins. Things can only get better at this point.
