His "rant" was a direct answer to the sport psychologist guy who asked him what ticked him off.
And your point is? He still sounded like an entitled jock. I could be wrong but the attitude he displayed in that interview could go one of two ways in the pros. He'll do everything in his power to prove his doubters wrong, or he holds grudges. I read his tone of voice and body language as he won't take it too well.

Also, unlike many on this board, I was not impressed by Ryan's "fight" for Fowler. Three reasons.

1) Just because someone shouts louder doesn't make him right.
2) Ryan was a center. Riendeau played goalie. Chances are he knows the position and what it takes a little better than the angry Bostonian.
3) Riendeau's goalie draft record proves that last point.

I think you misspelled whiner. I really didn't like his rant about scouts not seeing his accomplishments during his amateur career. Gave me a bad feeling. I'm hoping it was just a matter of bad editing.

As for the video, meh, that was 17 minutes I'll never get back. It was a fluff piece with very little substance.

The video isn't all that interesting, that's true.

As for Fowler, he is a winner. Because he turned that upsetting moment and did something about it. He won the USHL championship and was goalie of the year. So he channelled his frustration into getting better and proving people wrong and winning.

Andre Tourigny was on BPM Sports yesterday and he said that players will get knocked down a lot throughout their careers (midget, junior, college, and in the pros). He said the real ones are the ones who keep getting back up.

Fowler clearly got back up.

If you ask someone what frustrate them, they are going to share their frustration with you.
If you ask a bank robber what frustrates him and he goes on a rant about cops, does that make him sympathetic?

If Fowler had answered losing frustrates me, yes I would have agreed with you. His answer about not being recognized makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Makes one wonder how a young Wayne Gretzky would have done in their interviews. He was pretty soft spoken as a youngster.

The key take-aways in the video are what the scouting staff believed in Reinbacher.

- They think he has more offense than he's shown.
- They think he's unflappable under pressure, physical or forechecking.
- They think he's got a chance to be the premiere defenseman that every cup winning team had.

But hughes said he was a 2D ;-)

In a more serious note, completely agree on Reinbacher. People seems to consensually agree that it was between him and Michkov but i think the debate we have seen was probably between Reinbacher and Smith and that its not impossible in the end that they prefered Reinbacher to Smith.

Fowler, wow, incredible charisma and confidence for an 18YO. This young man has it. He has what it takes to be our goaltender for a long time from a mental point of view. I am still stunned by his behavior.

Everyone here thought Xhekaj was a reach at 101. Meanwhile, Bobrov thought he'd be gone before then. Wild.
Powerforward or grinder type of guy (big frame guy) , usually don’t have a crazy draft season on their draft year. As exemple, Ton wilson been selected at 16th without impressive stats, but the guy was a beef. Now, I don’t want to compare Xhekaj to Wilson. But, I could understand why they try it with the 4th pick. Cause anyway, 4th bust most of the time

Live by the sword and die by the sword. If Michkov does turn out 10x better than Reinbacher, Gorton will have egg on his face for listening to his scouting staff despite wanting Michkov. A very unaccomplished and unimpressive scouting staff as well.

Lol why should he power move his staff and question their competence when admittedly GMs hardly scout the players let alone a team president. That's some Mike Milbury shit

You're missing the point. The point is regardless of who he wanted personally, the onus for hiring and listening to the scouting staff lays on him.

I didn't see the point of even bother watching it.

Well......so far before the draft we heard rumors that Mitchkov attitude was bad.

Then we heard the same things from NHL exec the week of the draft and somethings happening during that week.

And now in the KHL he's already been benched in preseason games despites being awesome on the ice cause he's apparently a total dickhead in the room.

But sure who cares about that, right?
3 seconds highlights are much more important

Boisvert and Audette confirm my point. They arent vocal for the Q. We should continue to draft those guys on 5/6th round

I think it's a little interesting that they ended up getting everyone they discussed exactly where they thought they would. I can't imagine they sat there and filmed twelve different scenarios but they were discussing all of the fourth round picks at 101 and ended up getting all three.

Sure, but they probably said "I bet we could get X or Y or Z at 101". I'm sure some editing tricks came into play even if they didn't film different versions.

Florina was taken solely because of his brother. His ceiling is Ryan Reaves type. Added value, it helps Wifi though. The Russian is 21 years old, 02 birthdate. Pretty slim chance he makes it. Fowler could be interesting though. He had great playoff. Sign of a money goalie. I once heard Timmins say that about Fucale too. He said he entered their dressing room when Mooseheads down 3-0 to Remparts. It was Furcale who ignited that big playoff upset. Why he picked him .
They said that the russian would have gone in the 2nd round if he played in the NCAA.

BTW for everyone complaining about the length, how boring it was etc. Go watch other teams videos. I could only find a few and only one other that was longer than a few minutes and it was the Blues video...and that one is REALLY boring - no debate or drama...and they had 3 first round picks.

I just think it's interesting that they expected to only get one of their discussed picks at 101. Even if there were more they anticipated none being there at the second and third fourth rounders. I am sure they had a discussion about those picks as well that didn't get shown because they ended up with all the 101 choices.

I thought Konyushkov was a shit at the wall pick but there were multiple scouts vouching for him fairly passionately. I'm assuming the didn't have deep discussions after the fourth rounders since they didn't mention a single other player we took and it was more "we have a list we'll take whoever" at that point.

2022+2023:
6'4": 2
6'3":2
6'2": 4
6'0": 4
5'11": 3
5'10": 3
5' 8" : 2

Also, Hutson has grown to over 5'9" (as expected by science) and Xhekaj went from 6'2" to 6'3" close to 6'4" (as hoped by genetics).
I should have specified for forwards.

Those 2 seasons the Habs drafted Slaf and Xhekaj that are over 6' as a forward.

Previous regime would get some bigger d, but seemingly were afraid of going after forwards with size.

Another impressive thing about Fowler, he knew who was a passer and who was a shooter and if they shoot left or right.
Interestingly he was right on handedness for everyone, but he called Harvey a passer (more goals than assists), Perron a shooter (more assists than passes), Fine (more assists than passes). But at the same time I don't know any of those players, just stat watching, maybe Fowler is right on their tendencies.
