The bruins got blasted the night before against Florida. They were hungry.

Meanwhile the habs were traveling on the back to back and playing their backup after a win in the first game.

You could see the result coming from a mile away.
Boston's recent dominance over us has revolved around playing keep away in our end and tiring us out by the end. But while that element was still evident in the last game, I felt there were two improvements. One, we are bigger than before and there were good moments of neutralizing the bruins size and getting the puck back. And two, when we did have the puck we were able to actually make plays and put 4 past swayman. The habs of last year would've lost 6-1.

To me it's clear the talent is there, but experience is still needed aka everything is going to plan

Malkin was at 48% last year.

Kirby Dach was 38% 2 seasons ago.

He needs to MASSIVELY improve if he wants to be a centre.

To be fair to Dach, Dvorak hasn't been the best this season, but he's usually over 50%
Exactly, Malkin was 37yrs old last season, Dach was 21 two seasons ago.
He’s got plenty of time ahead of him to get better.

These were Malkin’s numbers his first five seasons;

So it's hardly an insurmountable task.

If there is something that can be taught, it's faceoffs. Not worried about that.

Kapanen and Beck will lead the way. Dvorak could help Kirby as well before we jetson him to the moon.

Dvorak has been crap at faceoffs so far this season. Kirby should go ask Suzuki for tips, he's been great.

Yeah but you have more room for forgiveness given Malkin's talent compared to what Dach has.

Would love for him, or the Habs to get in a specialist for him, like possibly Perreault if he's available. In exchange the Habs will let Jacob play a game at the end of the year.

Well Kirby played with Toews, who is really good at faceoff, for three years. He needs to improve the fo, but with Newhook's help, I don't think it's a deadly issue now.

Time will tell.

If he's at 30-35% that's no good at all.

If he can get up to 45% Habs might be able thrive, especially if he gets Demidov as a winger and he hits to where he's supposed to hit.

Sure. In the end though faceoff wins are worth much less than what the best possession players can add. So as long as he hits his potential and his line winning the shot attempt/ possesion battle, that'll mean alot more to winning than net faceoff wins.

Yeah like before the season even started which was why I brought up the asinine B2B to start the season.
Montreal's season should have started on the Tuesday.
I don't get how we have NO clout when it comes to our own home opener.

Their bigger players funnel us to the boards where they win the majority of the battles.
This is a game plan we haven't been able to crack going back to those 10 goal drubbings Columbus used to give us.
Crowd the neutral zone pinch the D and it's a fairly easy zone game.
What makes things worse is our coverage collapses so much there is never any pressure on their D.
The best way to stop a pinch is to burn the D at the blue line but we are never even close enough to threaten.
I'm always amazed at how much more space our opposition seems to be able to cover in their end of the rink.

DVO has been good year in year out with FOs. As much as Suzuki did well with FOs this game, I believe he lost every PP face off in the offensive zone. I was shocked to see him over 60%
