Glad to see him back. He didn't show much rust after his long layoff. The Heineman effect.

I don’t expect a scrap every game. I don’t expect a goal every game. Not realistic. That’s like asking Caufield to score every game, or Montembault to shutdown the opposing team every game, or Hutson to always be on the scoreboard.
He will have high and lows but if he can constantly apply himself and play a physical game while being a 60/70 point player he will be a difference maker (maybe that’s what you meant).
It has to be innate. He threw his body more tonight but there have been plenty of games where he had 3 or 4 hits. I don't want him to deviate too much from the player he is. The parts of his I liked the most tonight was that he was shooting more, we've barely seen him attempt anything on the PP this year and the chances he created from behind the net or while entering the zone and attract a player. He doesn't need to bulldoze or plow guys every night to make those kinds of impact. He WILL NOT play like that every night. It's not sustainable nor realistic.I don’t expect a scrap every game. I don’t expect a goal every game.
I do expect that kind of effort every game. Gallagher gave it for ten years. The Tkachuk bridge do it every night. I don’t see why Slaf can’t.
You have to show up every game.
We just need to know if it's in him. He has to move his feet. When he goes into passenger mode, it's not only ineffective, he's a liability. He has to move his feet. He does, he will be serviceable if he doesn't score.I don’t expect a scrap every game. I don’t expect a goal every game.

He’s got 2 assists tonight and it’s not a game to point at anybody but kinda disappointed that he doesn’t really seem to have got some energy back during the break.Yeah, not a speedster, but he could get a good burst of speed going. He seems to have lost that burst, but he's slow right now all over the ice.
Monty made some big saves late to stop Ottawa from getting momentum.
Slaf took a big hit, but beat up Greig. Guy can't hit and always throws the arms up
5 points from a WC spot, somehow.
Need at least 3-of-4 pts vs Car & SJS5 points from a WC spot, somehow.
He definitely was. In fact he was the best player on the ice, of both teamsIt has to be innate. He threw his body more tonight but there have been plenty of games where he had 3 or 4 hits. I don't want him to deviate too much from the player he is. Anyway I'm just glad Marty let him play on the first line. And omg can one argue Slaf was the best player on his line tonight? Impossibruh
Tell me more about that mix.5 points from a WC spot, somehow.

BTW, has guhle officially been shut down for the year?
It was frustrating to watch. There were a couple times 4 on 4 where the Habs just allowed guys to walk in on montembeault for no reason.
They were in position but they just did nothing.
That's a massive gap
It is, but less than I expected and not unsurmontable.
I'd still say our of odds of having a pre-lottery top 6 pick are higher than making the playoffs but both outcomes are still similarly achievable.
5 points is hard enough.... but there's also 5 teams to jump over and the team below them is right at their neck too.
Yet also 6 points from last in the East lmao5 points from a WC spot, somehow.
Believe it or not, there ARE players who play like that every night. It has to be innate. He threw his body more tonight but there have been plenty of games where he had 3 or 4 hits. I liked the fact he said he needs to play like BT and gave that effort .I don’t expect a scrap every game. I don’t expect a goal every game.
I do expect that kind of effort every game. Gallagher gave it for ten years. The Tkachuk bros do it every night. I don’t see why Slaf can’t.

Yea funny enough that was the game that puts the dagger in their hopes , instead they still alive5 points from a WC spot, somehow.
