Post-Game Talk: Habs defeat les Sénateurs d'Ottawa

Well said.

I think there is value in bringing him back for atleast another year or two as a bottom-6 guy, when you take out the disappointment of the cost of the trade to get him he’s been relatively serviceable - sometimes more so than others. He seems to be close-knit with some of our top players like Caufield and Suzuki and he’s playing good hockey for us in a bottom-6 role.
I think we will extend one of Dvorak and Armia but not both. Might also depends on where they see Beck and Kapanen playing next season.

TSN 1200 giving props to Gallagher for a strong game.

Talked highly of Hutson.

Thought the 3rd goal by Hamonic was tipped by Newhook and that threw Monty off a bit, but should have saved it given the distance out.

Mentions how it was noticeable how physical the Habs were and didn't see the push back youre use to from Brady, insinuating whatever he has is either starting to affect him more.

Brady is going to be physical as f*** against the Habs, especially in a game like that.

They said Tkachuk got 0 hits.

You know he's not right when Tkachuk got 0 hits in a game, especially against Montreal.

Finally a game where our top line/PP1 unit aren't relied upon. The Evans and Dvorak lines have been a bit cold offensively for a while now. Great to see them with some life again.

Everyone: "Habs need a second line C"

Christian Dvorak: "Hold my beer"

The crazy thing about Dvorak is that he's actually an very good hockey player... but his personality and lack of passion make him what he is. There's a reason he ripped up juniors and it's because of his talent. If only he could hit the switch like Josh Anderson has and just give 120% every single night... he'd be a darn good player.

That's true but that's the fault of a bad rebuild. Where was there future goalie in their pipeline the way Habs have Fowler? They finally get a legit goalie and all they have to show for it is a possible wildcard spot?
Ottawa's problem wasn't just the lack of a legit goalie, the holes at defense which exposed their bad goalies are still there.

context: Habs have highest point % since 4 nations break

Depth. Just depth. Roy will not cut it. One injury and they’re screwed. They should’ve grabbed a couple cheap vets on expiring contracts and that way if they make the playoffs, they aren’t stealing from Laval to hurt their playoff run. The only guys down there who might actually help aren’t even Habs draftees (ABB and Dauphin) so I don’t see the point of having roster spots filled with the Roys or Becks right now.

Team with no Dach distracting them with his bull has been great to see.
Vets are playing well, stars are playing well.
The moment we start getting poor goal tending is when we will fall off,
Hope we ride it.

Crazy that when we need a goal late in the 3rd period that it doesn’t feel like some insurmountable task.

I remember not so long ago of rolling Tatar Danault Gallagher out there, praying the other team would make a costly mistake and we could come back

Needless to say I am enjoying every minute of this

Can't enjoy the win without adding a nonsense take about a player that isn't even playing... This is why we can't have nice things.

Fyi perhaps if you watched the game you'd have seen that the team rallied despite a very weak goal putting them behind in the third period. Double fail in one post, bravo.

Good game! All round team effort against good teams. They demonstrated in this game in the third period that they can fight, persist, claw, and climb from behind and win, and in the previous game against Florida they demonstrated they can keep a lead against a determined opponent. They can forecheck, defend, and attack, plus they have Laine and Montembeault who can periodically steal points on their own.

WTF does this even mean? No game is ever won on fantasy hockey pools…..

BTW - there were a few of us who pontificated preseason this team would battle it out for wildcard spot… this was never a bottom-5 team
Yep, I'm one of them and got laughed at. Even voted at the very beginning (not when the poll was re-opened) in the "are we making the playoffs" thread, a big YES!

You just helped me remember why Roy was in the lineup and who he’s replacing….swear to God I forgot all together about Dach :)

Great game by the vets specially Anderson he was all over the place with big hits and goals if only he would show up more often

Ottawa fans ( the few they have ) crying about this was our stanley cup
They don't even realize they are 0-3 against us this year and that we beat a load of good teams to get here. They also don't even realize that we are only 4 points back

and i also think we look better moving forward we still have great prospects like Demidov & Reinbacher joining us next year and Hage in 2 i think Ottawa only has Yakemchuk but could be wrong

We already have one 3rd line center in Evans we don't need two. 4th line players on contenders are signed for 700k-900k. Unless Dvorak wants to extend for that kind of money he should be out. People did not learn anything from the last 30 years, Contenders give money to top players and they rotate the depth. We give money to depth and we rotate top players. That's not the way to go.

Extending Armia and Dvorak depends on what they ask and if Dach or Newhook are out. You need to at least free one spot for Demidov so someone has to be out. We can afford a 4th line paid like a 2nd line because we have a young team. Wont always be the case once we start contending the 4th line will have to be paid like a 4th line. Like for Evans KH will ask those guys to accept their role on the ice but in the contract too. If they get greedy either in term or money i doubt KH will budge.
