Post-Game Talk: Habs defeat les Sénateurs d'Ottawa

not a Sens fan but they finally have a goalie.... so good for them. I want all Canadian teams in playoffs just as long as Habs are last ones standing

That's true but that's the fault of a bad rebuild. Where was there future goalie in their pipeline the way Habs have Fowler? They finally get a legit goalie and all they have to show for it is a possible wildcard spot?

Senaturds don't have a pipeline to speak of. They only really have Yakemchuk as a great prospect. They even say it themselves. Their future is bleak.

I know lol. I went to their board and they're already talking about a retool/rebuild on the fly. If they don't, they'll just be a worse version of the leafs in the past 10ish years

8-1-2 since the break, are we still making fun of the power of friendship and a tight-knit locker room?
Of course we are. Levity is an undercurrent of posting here — doesn’t prevent us from substantively appreciating what they are doing.

Why does everything have to be seen as payback on this forum? We’re just fans having good natured fun. Enjoy.

That's gotta be Dvo's best game in the NHL, 4 points. Usually he just gets an occasional 1-2 point game with a frown.

He was a beast against Florida too.

If we go back to the time Montreal acquired him, I thought he should have been an unremarkable 2C type of player. I think early on, he showed some flashes of creativity. He suffered alot of injuries though during his time here and although he has remained healthy this year, he just reverted to a really vanilla game.

But these last couple of games, he's kind of showing what I thought he could be. Obviously, the Habs are lacking offense at center after Suzuki, but dvorak does have something within him that could help the team keep the band aid together down the middle. The question is whether it's just a flash in the pan, or whether he's going to keep it up for the stretch drive.

Team’s showing a lot of CHaracter, loved what I saw from the bench tonight, locker room is closer than ever, on paper we shouldn’t even be in the playoffs
WTF does this even mean? No game is ever won on fantasy hockey pools…..

BTW - there were a few of us who pontificated preseason this team would battle it out for wildcard spot… this was never a bottom-5 team

The 3rd and 4th lines, Awesome game. Anderson and Gallagher the foot soldiers. Dvorak with 4 points. It was good to see Anderson get first star and interviewed on RDS and fans going crazy when the interviewer said Rangers are losing and Habs are in playoffs as of now....Anderson just smiled and listened to the crowd...Loved it.

The bottom-6 has been close to dominant cs opposition for 80% of the season… nothing new except for fantasy stat trackers

I could be completely barking up the wrong tree, I thought the effort he gave on pressuring the puck right before the third Ottawa goal was extremely lazy, he did have a few decent chances offensively I give you that.
Living in the west I don't get to see a lot of games and watching the highlites on that goal my first thought was who was that lazy tit, backed it up a little to get the name and there it was.

Well said.

I think there is value in bringing him back for atleast another year or two as a bottom-6 guy, when you take out the disappointment of the cost of the trade to get him he’s been relatively serviceable - sometimes more so than others. He seems to be close-knit with some of our top players like Caufield and Suzuki and he’s playing good hockey for us in a bottom-6 role.
