Another entertaining game. Xhekaj made some nice offensive reads and he's pretty agile for a guy his size I must say. He's far from just being a big dman who just fights and plays physical.

Slaf was much less noticeable to me tonight though but maybe losing Dach early affected his game some but he really needs to use that size of his to punish and muscle players off the puck and stop being far to passive.

During one sequence he was going after the puck into the corner with a Hawks player and had a chance to really punish that Hawks player but he held up and was far to passive. Use that size of yours will ya Slaf b'y.
Slaf looks absolutely lost without a puck. I don't understand why he is with the "big" team still. He definitely needs to be in a different env't. Can he still play junior?

This is year 3... just sayin'. Some light at the end of the tunnel would be nice.
Yes. And tons of changes were made. We have Caufield, Suzuki, Dach, Newhook, Guhle, Xhekaj, RHP, Slaf in the lineup

Mailloux, Hutson, Reinbacher, Roy, maybe Farrell, Heineman coming

Future is bright, give it time. We all knew how this was going to go: slow

and what happens when Reinbacher, Hutson and Mailloux go through their growing pains? who will you call on the replace them? Come on, defense wasn't tan issue tonight.
It’s been an issue two nights in a row. Two games that should be easy wins with the late leads and then they don’t know how to defend. Guys aren’t talented enough after Guhle and Matheson.

Montembault played solid tonight.

You got to run with him until he slips. I would have him as our starter until we he back to back nights and 4 games in a week kind of weeks. he has looked like a starter since last winter.

Players intro were shit, please scrap this concept.

Monty did not give up a softie that's reassuring..

No lead is safe with this D.

I feel he looks much better so far then last year in preseason and the couple reg games
, while he's still a little lost out there at times he's a little bit more noticeable couple hits actually shooting the puck and some nice passes still need a year or 2 to gain confidence

Kirby got hit into the Hawks bench when he got injured if I’m not mistaken.

Way too much hyperbole. He’s been fine and is way more aware of his surroundings and where to place himself.

Beat the Chicago Bedards but lots to work on. Power play is still le poop.

If Kirby is down then prepare yourselves mentally for the one man Armia.

Wild on Tuesday. Are..are they good now? I have no idea...
I don’t like Armia but he should be in the starting lineup over Gallagher. At the very least he’s a really good PKer. Gally is trash at everything.

Hot take: Rose colored glasses for all, but imo Bédard is definitely not ready for the NHL. His decision making is a fraction too slow and he's obviously quite weak.

Thing is, you can't send him back to junior so I guess you have to play him up. Doesn't help that the hawks have no one to play with him though.
I agree. He is obviously nowhere near a first line centre right now.

I don't know if it made it on TV but Slaf kind of snow showered the goalie and then sprinted to the bench to avoid any sort of blow back. How does a 6"4 unit play so small?

I'm pretty sure you could make such posts about Crosby, Ovechkin, McDavid and Matthews back in their rookie years by focusing on a game.

There is no doubt Bedard is NHL ready and there is no doubt he will be one of the best in his generation.

It's easy to pick on Bedard because without him his team wouldn't even be a lock to win the Calder Cup.
