I know we should, but I kinda don't want to trade him.

He's a fine bottom 6 player.

I'd love to see us trade him for assets (the typical KH trade that sets the main trade board off lol) and then re-sign him in the summer for 2 years.

I didn't watch the game, but read the GTD as it finished, so was Slaf demoted for the bad turnover, or for his reaction after?

It read as a very weird sequence in the GTD.

He's also in a better chair this year.

Pretty sure it was his reaction after. Yes, he f***ed up a play, but not so bad he deserved 4th line.

Instead, after his f*** up he skates back to the bench & yells, FXXXXXCK so f***ing loud, you can clearly hear it through the TV. He also snapped his stick in half.

Crazy thing is SN replays it going into commercial break, so you hear his long, shouted f*** twice!

Slafkovsky is frustrated with himself. He needs to chill out a bit & just play. Kid is super intense. I think MSL just wanted him to calm down a bit.

Yeah, I have no issue about what MSL did tonight.

Best game of the year.

I felt like Savard being out, the D looked much more mobile. Really stood up that NZ, Columbus couldn't do shiet.
That and they were playing Columbus which can make any D look good. You could be on to something though hopefully long term

Columbus played last night & it was their 3rd game in 4 nights, so no surprise they fell apart. Still, it was nice to win it with a big margin.

I loved Xhekaj's, Heineman's & Caufield's game tonight. Heineman is a perfect 4th line winger for us. He also brings some offense & is a constant net front presence. Xhekaj great game, and an even bigger fight.

D played well, and it looks good without Savard. Next game is Monday against Edmonton. I wouldn't mind seeing how these 6D do against McDavid et al.

Montembeault was steady in net.

Good win. (It moves us from 32nd overall to 29th.)
It was the third game in 5 nights. The fact that we were on the Pacific tour could be excused in the middle of the season, but not after the 16th game (17th today). The players have top notch care. And there is 3 hours difference between Columbus and Los Angeles. In the KHL, teams fly to Khabarovsk and Vladivostok, there's a 7 hour difference between Moscow and those cities. Not to mention if those two teams play in different cities. the closest non-Pacific team is Omsk - 3 hours.

Team has been significantly better the past five or so games. Good to see.

Still don't like the makeup of the 2nd line though. Caufield carried that line tonight.
Did you watch the minny game? They were disgustingly bad and pathetic

Nah unfortunately I'm back on the Island. I lived on the lower mainland from 2015-2019 though.
Ewww like Nanaimo or Duncan ?

Obviously the next few games are not going to look like this one, but they need some confidence to stand any chance. I could see to OT/SO losses against EDM and VGK

Slafkovsky will learn from this. The good thing is he cares. I think aside from moving his feet, his issue is trying to hard to be cerebral and read the play. He can do it, but it makes him really passive. I think it's almost like he's trying to emulate Suzuki. The problem with that is that's not his game, and Suzuki needs his wingers to play a power game and cycle to succeed. Slaf at his best is aggressive and making decisive choices. He's looking for the perfect play every time and that's not going to lead to success.

I did like his screening on the Matheson goal, and he had good moments but he will need to be better. I bet he improves when Laine returns because of how defences will be deployed differently when he's back. MSL did a good job tonight.
