Mailloux is far from slipping, anybody that's seen him play and knows his story in junior knows he was always going to need 2-3 years in the AHL.

He needs experience, time on ice.
True! I should have said not a guarantee to be good defensively in the NHL, rather than slipping.

Probably their best 60 minutes effort this season (so far) and it was in the back of a back-to-back.

The 5 men units were much more synchro tonight (I haven't watched the last two games thought). Still missing the net too much, but without Matheson, way less shots in the shin pads!

Dach is actually showing improvements compared to the early season I feel. Still lots of stuff to work on (and confidence is probably not that high either), but I don't think he's the lost cause people think he is.

Slaf + Gallagher force Slaf to work his feet. I would keep them together for a while.

Primeau was just...as bad as the Columbus goalie. He has low confidence, has issue tracking the puck and looks slow...oouff.

Heineman will be a good middle 6 player in a few years. Still some stuff to work on but :thumbu:.

I really liked Anderson, but then he was playing against his ex-team.

The PK was extra tonight too.

Barron looks slower than last year (skating wise). I would use him as trade bait at this point.
Roy might have elite NHL IQ and hands, the rest of the package isn't there. Another trade bait.
Roy could be sent down to Laval, no problem, when Laine is back.

Barron…. Hey, they prefered to keep him instead of Kovacevic.

Trouba will be trying to kill another hab
Not if we kill him first. :sarcasm:
Do we have one of these in our group of forwards?
Just for once It would be fun to be the initiator.

Slaf getting 3 less minutes than Newhook despite getting half of Newhook’s season production just today is a decision.
It's okay. We're tanking even if 90% of this board do not realize it. It's better to test Dach and Newhook as much as we can since they are almost 24. There's not much growth left in those guys it's better to test them now. Slaf is only 20 and for almost all the season no problem sheltering him a bit for this year.

Slaf was on the 2nd line with Gallagher and Newhook played on the first so it make sense he got some more minutes. Pretty sure Slaf will get his spot back maybe next game or soon enough.

13 thoughts (in Gaudreau's honor)

1- It was nice to see Slaf scoring. I'm not worried at all about him. Ups and downs are totally normal for a 20 years old.

2- The Anderson-Dach-Roy line was good. Spent a lot of time in the O zone. Now they just need to shoot more.

3- Dvorak is slowly growing on me as a 4th line center. After an awful start, he's been a steady and defensively responsible presence in the line-up. I don't dislike him as much as I used to. He still needs to be traded at the deadline though.

4- The absence of Matheson is really being felt in the transition game. Nobody carries the puck like he does, and I think his absence has a negative impact on our offense.

5- I'm scared everytime Primeau gets a shot. He looked nervous early on but it’s nice to finally see him having a good game. But he's on a very short leash now.

6- 13th goal for Caufield was the perfect hommage to Gaudreau

7- Damn I hate that cannon.

8- It doesn't make Werenski look very courageous to drop gloves against 5'9" Gallagher...

9- But Werenski is pretty damn good. Team Canada?

10- I took Marchenko in my pool and he's looking pretty good. Lots of talent there.

11- I wasn't convinced with Heineman after 10-15 games but he's now showing interesting stuff.

12- Armia is my pick as the 13th forward once Laine gets back.

Finally watched rest of the game. As I predicted, Yoel was instrumental in setting the tone for the win with that secondary assist on Heineman's goal. Which eventually set up the well endowed captain Nick goal. It was all Yoel. :D

Habs played a decent game for them. It was CBJ.- a team that is almost as bad. But they found a way to win it and not blow it. Slaf played better. Donkey was solid. Caufield battled. Dach... i don't f***ing know. Roy was inviisible which I guess is not horrible. The only player that truly sucked was Barron. My god he is terrible.

But win's a win. Let's just not talk about turning corners and flipping switches. The criteria has to be 4 wins in a row. Let's say I am less than optimistic about game against the Rangers.

This game would have been 10-0 if Laine was playing
Lol... I suspect Laine will look like Dach for quite some time.
