I think you have to run with Montembeault next season. I would try to trade Allen and put Primeau in as a back up. Worse case scenario is we're picking top 5 again and best case we squeak in the playoffs.

From my inside source.....Montambeault is freakin impressed by Devon Levi. My friend made a 4 days trip to Latvia to see Monty and was lucky enough to see him when he got player of the game. Was also lucky enought to sit with Shane Doan and Armstrong.

That's the post. lol

Monty seems to have progressed each year which is a good sign. 2 season's ago, he had some high peaks and low valleys... lacked the consistency. This past season, he was incredibly consistent... like Carey Price consistent. He seems to have ice in his veins as well. Doesn't get phased, keeps calm.

I don't know if he'll be a number 1, but I think if he keeps developing, he has some intangibles that make him quite reliable.

Florida was very high on Monty and hated losing him to waivers. They had no choice with Bob and Knight on their roster and the cap hell they were in.

He's young enough to be the main guy for us during our transitional phase from the rebuilt, we can get 3-4 seasons out of him being at the very least league average or better. I sure don't ever want to spend 10+ millions on a goalie ever again anyway, a guy like Monty is a lot more manageable cap wise.

The goaltending position has changed tremendously. They can so easily get injured you need to divide your goaltending budget amongst a tandem.

Look at the goalies left, and the goalie who won the cup last year. Kuemper, Andersen, Bob and even Hill are good enough goalies to carry the load when they are on, but they also needed reliable backups to help them get there, and carry the load in the regular season so they are as healthy as possible to go on a run. Also, Bob, Andersen and Hill were all backups at one point this season! Now in the conference finals lol.

Monty should either become a steady, reliable backup to help carry the load, or, if he continues progressing, a starter that is good enough to go on a run if he's healthy and in the zone

Buffalo is set up really nicely with a bunch of nice young players in all the crucial positions and are looking like they could be contenders soon if they continue progressing.

Would have probably made the playoffs if they were able to start Levi a week earlier.

Hutson was, dare I say it, dominant in the 3rd. He was feeling it big time and Quinn was rewarding him with a lot of ice time. Felt like every shift he did something positive. Looked dynamic.

Now he gets player of the game for the US.
That’s what happen when you put Hutson 7th D. He’ll force you to play him because a team needs his kind of dynamic plays!

Hutson!

I know it wasn't a powerplay
But God, he is going to change our powerplay lol

Pumped for that kid

Hutson and Mailloux will change the PP.

You already have Suzuki, Caufield & Dach who are bright spots on one of the worst PPs in the league. Bring in guys like Hutson and Mailloux to play with them and you're in good shape.
