not sure how he is a bust...I guess even for a 34th overall pick he was meh.
He had a cult following here and there was many a triggered user when referred to as a bust. But crazy he’s still playing good for him

Fast forwarded through the game just to watch Reinbacher.

People scared of us picking him just clearly haven't watched him. He was impressive today.

His skating is so good and so smooth, his defensive stick is really good. The only time he got in trouble today was taking a too extreme outside angle but that is easily coached out. He never got caught puck watching in his own end, identified his own threat and tied up the stick first before going through the body and gaining positioning on plays in tight.

Offensively, yeah his creativity isn't massive, he's not a shimmy and shake guy but he gets into the rush. He's not afraid to shoot and he gets his shot to the net, he will power it up when necessary.

The most impressive thing was his poise with the puck and he was able to shake coverage to reset and make a play to keep the puck moving forward. He was the defenseman starting the rush up ice on the powerplay.

This guy has everything you want in a defenseman. His floor is a 4 and he has upside as a 1.

But not a top 5 pick in this year draft. I’ll be mad if we pick him with so many good forwards on the boards on a team that lacks good forwards prospects.

Last year, Reinbacher might have been a top 5 pick. Not this year.

He solves a massive need for us and if you're passing on Michkov, I can't think of a forward that has a massive edge on him. You'd be splitting hairs.

I like Leonard, Dvorsky, Benson and Wood up front but they all have question marks as to whether or not they'll be top line talents, in fact, they are most likely support on the top line or a 2nd line player.. where as you can see quite clearly that Reinbacher will anchor your defense on the right side for a long time.

Eric Desjardins ?

And is he closer to a no.1 D than Dvorsky is to being a 1C ?

I respect your opinion, but i don’t agree with you on this part. I take Leonard, Benson, Dvorsky all before Reinbacher at 5. We need top 6 forwards. We can’t wait for a dman in next year draft.

Without question imo.

Yeah that's fine.. I also want a forward, wanted one instead of Guhle and I'm glad now we didn't do what I wanted.

But I can't just make up a top line forward and take him over someone I'm seeing #1 RHD upside with.
I love the way Leonard plays the game but he's basically average to above average in everything except compete.
Benson is really skilled as well, but he's smaller without an elite burst. There's injury and longevity issues with him.
Dvorsky has a great shot and plays inside well, but I'm not look at an elite tool-kit offensively.

I'm not gonna be mad about any of those choices, btw, but the risk/reward ratio on Reinbacher is probably the best case after the top 5.
