I'm a big fan. But any player has to prove over a long sample size that they're not a flash in the pan, whether you're a #1 overall pick like Yakupov who had a great rookie season or an undrafted player that comes out of nowhere.
No point playing a winger like Pearson ahead of him. No way !

Not in my books.

I have it:

Caufield - Suzuki - Monahan/Newhook
Slaf - Dach - RHP
Pearson - Newhook/Monahan - Anderson
Gallagher - Evans - Ylonen
Pez, Armia

and when Dvo comes back, i.e. if we're ever fully healthy, I have Evans, Dvo, Ylonen, and Pearson competing for the last top 9 spot that I currently have Pearson in. RHP is top 9 for sure.

RHP on a 4th line ? Are you kidding ? He has showned since with the habs that he is a top-9 player at worst. Pearson and Gally are anchors for this team.

We know already what RHP can bring... And he is a top-9 player.
He can certainly move up the lineup again if he earns it or other guys get regulated down

Given that RHP was working well with Suzuki and Anderson not much, I would be tempted to go
CC Suzuki RHP
Newhook Dach Anderson
Slaf Monahan Ylonen
Pearson Evans Gallagher

I have concerns about 1st Line size but well it could work.

No way is Monahan playing on the third line and if he is please stop putting him next to freaking Gallagher.
He's going to start either him or Newhook there by default. Unless we dress 7 D and Evans takes over. I blame Dvorak. :sarcasm: Actually given how many natural centers we have 7 D isn't a bad Idea. Suzuki Dach Monahan Newhook and Evans can all take a double shift.

It is very possible that Newhook won't start the season. So Monahan would have to center the third line for a while.

Gallagher did look better than his last game where he could practically do nothing useful on the ice.

No doubt the clock is thinking and there is barely any effectiveness left to his game, but he wasn’t bad last night. He did win some battles and didn’t mess up badly.

If he can win his fair share of battles and just go around the net (which we don’t see as much anymore) he will at least not be a nuisance. Even if I expect him to have a lot problems this year.

I don’t think Monahan should be the “guy” on his line. They need to put him in a role where he’s the glue guy and helps that line take an other level.
