Veleno is a former 1st round pick from Montreal. That's worth like... Guhle and a pick.

The plan is for the Habs to tank, and to kamikaze themselves and bring Florida down with them (nothing against you Florida, but we have that sweet, sweet 2023 1st of yours, and we need Connor Bedard)

The best way to achieve that, is to arm those who can bring Florida down and keep them down

Won't be traded: Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Guhle, Xhekaj, Slafkovsky, Mesar, Beck, Hutson (we need them for the rebuild), Gallagher (because you don't want him anyway, his contract isn't worth talk about)

Every one else is on the table.

We can retain up to 50% of salaries on Drouin, Hoffman, Dadonov and Monahan, if needed.

We can pick up your garbage contracts of 1 year too, if you need cap space

What can we do to help you pummel Florida out of the playoffs?
Trade that junk to Florida and it's a guaranteed top 5 lottery pick

Addition by subtraction. Trading your junk and Monahan won't help you tank. Tanking on purpose would probably be demoralizing to your young players. They want to win. They're going to play to win whether they can get the W or not.

We need them for our own tank tho

Buffalo doesn't need anyone to retain salary for them. Would Vegas 2nd work for Kovacevic?

I'd do it

Kovacevic is good but for a 2nd, it's a deal

trading drouin to the panthers may have a better chance to sink florida.

Drouin has 50 points seasons in him, or at least would have, if he wasn't always hurt

Detroit needs centers. I mean Suzuki is what they really need. If he’s off the table I really can’t see Detroit wanting to pay for anything you’d part with.

Suzuki is 💯 off table for obvious Ressons I think.
It would pretty Much go against what we're doing here

I get you but we are bound to miss the playoffs anyway. Habs aren't getting in There with Boston, Tampa Bay and Toronto already in for sure.

Buffalo needs Defense.

We have Edmunson and Matheson who can play on second pair if you're interested

3rd pair, ideally defensive dmen who can pk. No large length of contract remaining, so Matheson's a no.

Edmunson is at 3.5 for 2 years, we could retain on him if needed

Edmunson is 100% worth a 1st but I'd be ok to settle for a bit less if it means taking out Florida

Weird thread; i dont think Buff and Det's plan is to beat down florida; it is to make their team better to make the playoffs. They dont care who is in or not otherwise.

I am also not sure that the plan is to tank for Bedard (or a top 5 pick even). Of course, when it comes to the draft, every team hopes for hte best ranking possible. However, the Habs are both young AND competing for a playoff spot. Will they make it? Doubt it, but i am starting to wonder which is faster for a rebuild; a team that tanks for multiple years, or one that tanks one year and quickly installs a winning culture in its youth?

The habs play every game as if they can win it - let the younger talent grow and tack themselves on in that environment and things will get progessively better year after year.

None of these pieces fill a need for Detroit who isn't looking to trade futures for rentals or wingers. We also have plenty of cap space.

Detroit and buffalo do have the cap space. They aren’t trading 1sts, 2nd, or top prospect for your misfit toys.
