Hmm, play a skilled young winger with veteran skilled talent? That seems so simple and correct.....the Pens won't even give it a shot.

no, he hasn't earned it. He needs to prove he can produce in a role he isn't suited for before they can put him where he belongs.

I don't think Sid or Geno have "quit" on MJ. They may be playing in a very specific way as to highlight things they disagree with.

I think it's important to note that it's not done intentionally on a conscious level. I think these guys have spent so much of their careers swimming upstream only to see the current against them become harder whenever they swim harder that, on a more subconscious level, as I wrote earlier, you give up a little.

The tough part is that they're both doing it at the same time and to a degree that I really haven't seen since January 2009. You'd have one or the other hit a spot like this with Bylsma, but never both until the playoffs.

What's interesting is that the media (esp in Canada) has ALWAYS harped on 'these guys have never had a legit winger!"

but no one has EVER said, "you have two of the best players in the world, but you've never acquired the same level of management for them"

Every time I waver, I am reminded why I love you most.

They've never had a coach worthy of their talents.

the injuries at the end of the last season weren't a cause, and they just prolonged the agony. the team was playing like crap before the injuries... and it shows now...

even GMs.

I know Tender Rip said it a long time ago, but there's no cap on GM/Coaching side of things. They could have done amazing things there.

And for all the love Cole got from DK "WHY ARE YOU HARPING ON THE DESPRES TRADE WHEN WE STOLE COLE!?!?!" he's proving that he's nothing more than a bottom pair guy.

He could not have played that GWG any worse than he did.

Things are so bad with this team right now that there hasn't been a single mention from us how blatant that hook on Plots was.

Cole might be more than a bottom pairing guy, but he's not a 20-minute a night guy

Our defensemen are a big big problem. Letang is the only one playing well.

Worse still, I don't think you can even expect them to start playing better. Our next best guy is Maatta who hasn't played in a year and is now being asked to carry a second pairing.

Can anybody please tell me the system that the Pens are trying to play? I can't discern one.

Can someone tell the players that if cross ice passes are not working on the PP they certainly won't work on 5v5? Even the Porter-Cullen-Sprong line were attempting them.

Can someone please tell Johnston that his players apparently can't catch a pass up the middle on the rush so it may be time to find a different entry plan?

Can someone tell the Pens Front Office that if you only care about the business side and PR you become MLSE once all of your "name" players retire or leave?

Can someone please answer the question of why with 87, 71, 58, and 29 all in their primes we are still looking for vet leadership from 14, 4, and 9?

Will someone inform the media that by defending 14, 4 and 9 by citing their vet leadership that they are backdoor criticizing the "core"?

I have so much more.....ruin my first home opener without Craig Adams and see what happens

it really does feel like there's a bit of a finality to this era.

I don't think it HAS to be over, but I don't think they're going to recognize the issues and the solution any time soon.

It's not that I'd love to be wrong, and you to be right. This organization just doesn't ever do the obvious thing that's staring them in the face. They love to prove to everybody that they are right, and everybody else is wrong.

Take the whole red carpet shenanigans tonight. Crosby comes out of the car with Kunitz and Scuderi. I guarantee you that's because of the heat those 2 are getting.

I mean seriously, when was the last time this team had a real NHL coach? Besides Therrien.

I wonder what kind of response a car of MJ, Morehouse and Kunitz would receive.

From my limited viewing of the game; thought Sprong looked poised. He's better off going back to the Charlottetown. Give him the playing time he needs. Him being on the fourth line is illogical. Even with the "four scoring-lines".

Beau Bennett had one of the best performances of his career.

Maatta needs time to adjust to his old ways. Not easy being out of the game for so long.

This team doesn't have the right balance or character. Team is built more like a video game rather than an actual hockey team.

they aren't. There are better ways to do it.

I'm beginning to think that both are just fed up with the lack of direction. It would not be the first time a Pens team revolted. Those of us who remember Kevin Constantine. Also, rumors have it that it was Sid who gave the final go ahead when MT was removed in '09.

Here's the deal:

3rd line is great. Keep that together. Bonino is talented.
Sid and Horny were GREAT together. GREAT. Horny has sucked since being with Malkin; Malkin has sucked since being with Horny. Kessel doesn't need Sid, Kessel can play with anyone. Sid also doesn't need speed on his wing, that's a falsity (?). Gretzky slowed the game down, he didn't need speedy wingers. Sid doesn't need a fast winger. Lemieux didn't need a fast winger. My point is, the lines should be:
kunitz sid horny
perron geno phil
3rd line
4th line

Also, Fleury is sucking again.

Pens are gonna get Matthews, I feel it in my loins.

Ultimately, should we expect anything else when THEY are part of the issue?

I honestly think Malkin and Crosby are trying to get that coach fired, and if they are doing that, that is ****ed up, no matter how bad MJ is. Show some ****ing heart.

No, they wouldn't do that. When the coach has a game plan that doesn't make sense, it's hard to play. I should know, I play in a beer league :yo:

They don't have their no.1. They traded it to Toronto for Kessel
