Post-Dach injury, this is what I would try to balance the lines:

RHP-Suzuki-Caufield
Slafkovsky-Monahan-Ylonen
Pearson-Newhook-Anderson
Pezzetta-Evans-Gallagher

When Dvorak returns, option 1:
Dvorak moves to 3C, Newhook moves left, and Pearson replaces Pezzetta

Option 2:
Dvorak replaces RHP who moves to line 3LW, and Pearson replaces Pezzetta

I do like the idea of Ylonen in an elevated role.

At some point you need to see what he can do.

I like.

Personally, though I would try.

RHP - Suzuki - Caufield
Slaf - Newhook - Anderson
Pearson - Money - Ylonen
Pezz - Evans - Gally

When Dvo returns....

RHP - Suzuki - Cole
Slaf - Newhook - Money
Pearson - Dvo - Anderson
Pezz - Evans - Ylonen
Gally

He's an interesting one. When he is on, he looks very very good. Size/skating/shot is very noticeable. When he is off, he fades into the shadows.

There is a fair case to be made that there is untapped potential with Ylonen. I'm very curious to see how he matures even more because he has not played a full NHL season yet

As per Patrick Friolet, it sounds like MSL will go with the following lines to start against the wild:

RHP - Suzuki - Caufield
Slaf - Newhook - Anderson
Pearson - Money - Gally
Pezz - Evans - Ylonen

RHP playing bumper on pp1

We shall see how this unfolds because Dach out has ripple effects. I think MSL tries a few different things.

Do I like the idea of Slaf playing on the same line as Anderson? Not really. I'm a huge fan of Anderson's game but he doesn't have the vision to work well with the young Slaf.

Newhook with Slaf and Dach fit so well. Newhook and Dach shared the center role and faceoffs. Now, Newhook has to do a lot more.

Part of the trickle down from losing Dach. PP 1 relies more on the 2 primary options - CC and NS shots.

RHP could be a revelation as a 3rd option from the slot and fir tips in front of the net.

I agree I don't think Slaf and Anderson will last.

Ideally Slaf moves up with Cole and Nick or onto Monahan's wing. I like Anderson with Newhook.

With Devo, would do :

RHP-Suzuki-Caufield
Slaf-Money-Newhook
Roy-Dvorak-Anderson
Ylonen-Evans-Armia

Gally/Pearson bench and give them turns on the 4th

Pezz down.

Allen or Primeau down.

The only possible silver lining in the Dach injury is giving our only NHL ready prospect (ROY) a place in the top 9.

One more injury at center and L Anderson is called up?

The Newhook trade makes more and more sense today. It's likely Hughes knew Dvorak was not going to be ready and wanted more center depth.

What is the expected return date for Dvorak? Early November?

November 2nd is what I read. He's been practicing with the team in none-contact jersey since the last week of pre-season camp too.

I suspect that if the team didn't have PTSD with injuries he would be back in with Dach out.

I read Nov 2nd as well. This might be a default date due to putting him on LTIR. I believe there is minimum amount of games projected to be out in order to qualify for LTIR. If he plays before that, that might raise an eyebrow from the NHL because we used his contract to get under the cap before the season started.

It's 10 games, but Habs also said early November so it fits. Give or take a few days.

Not a fan of the bolded line. Slaf's worst pre-season game was with those two linemates. Slaf needs a C with better vision and IQ, whether Dach or Monahan doesn't matter. I'd flip Slaf and Pearson.

Two lefties on the first pairing, two righties on the second pairing.
Ylonen still buried on the 4th line.
You all still think this coaching staff has a clue?

Harris has sucked worse than any other D so, let's put him on the first pairing.

Harris can play on the right side like Xhekaj does since the start of the year.
Ylönen could play on the left wing also.

Suggestion: the title of this thread should be changed to 2024-2025 lineup to avoid confusion with the current season.

Observation: funny how among all the predictions that far in advance, one that realistically could have come true if management had wanted was having Michkov and Wright in the lineup.

Seems to be pretty clear to me already:

Caufield - Suzuki - Roy
Newhook - Dach - Slaf
RHP - Monahan/Dvo - Anderson
Gallagher - Evans - Ylonen
Pez

Matheson - Kovacevic/Savard
Guhle - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Barron
Harris/Norlinder, Lindstrom

Montembault
Allen/Primeau

Traded Pearson, Savard/Kovacevic, Allen/Primeau, Harris/Norlinder, Dvo/Monahan, Armia?

Monahan but no Dvorak, not even traded?

It will be interesting to see if Monahan can in fact stay healthy, and how Dvo plays.

I actually like Dvo as a top 9 winger who can play center when there are injuries. I just don't like him leading a line as a C that has other offensive players on it like Slaf, Newhook, RHP, and Anderson.

I was being sarcastic a little bit but that really happened and I like Harris a lot. Sometimes I feel I'm the only one who does...
