that would be just about par for the course for this club.
 
Keep seeing chatter about the Storm adding players......IMO this team reminds me more of previous Storm teams that had the likes of Beck, Holland and Latta on it, then any true Championship teams (1998, 2004, 2014). Lots of talent but not able to put it together to make any sort of serious run at a Championship. It scares me to think where this team will be if it starts shipping out more younger players chasing an unrealistic goal.
 
Trading Bertuzzi, Popovich 2-2nds and 2-3rds for Dipietro would be one of the top 5 worst trades made by this franchise- our future for no present.

I think standing pat would be the worst idea. Have to make a decision one way or another unforunately. Either trade Ratcliffe and Schnarr for younger top prospects or go for it even if the odds aren't in your favour. Name of the game with cyclical hockey.

Popovich has been one of the best goaltenders in the league in the past six or seven games with little to no team in front of him, this trade would cripple the pick cupboard when we could be using to bolster our defence and get a solid number 1 forward instead. There's no reason to trade for DiPietro with a price tag like that on him, enough said.

Primeau has been put in a top 6 role which he didn't earn in Guelph, and not to mention was a serious detriment in the locker room from what's being said, he wanted out and he got out, there's nothing more to that equation, it wasn't him or Bertuzzi, it was just a young player wanting out.

I am just saying that Bertuzzz out for a big trade is not a bad thing. Look at the overall goalie stats and tell me Popovich is one of the best goalies in the league. He has had big games and made good saves but will get lit up in the playoffs. Windsor isn't the greatest team this year but look at the numbers DiPietro puts up. Teams should be build from the back out - it starts with your goal.

Any defensive upgrade (adding one stay at home D) will not completely change the defensive makeup of the team. Merkley will continue to turn it over so you need someone back there who is elite and can bail him out.

So you'd like to make a needless acquisition, and get rid of Bertuzzi, who along with Primeau would light it up elsewhere given the value. If Bert is moved, it should be for an all-star forward, not a goalie. We're already seeing the effect Primeau has elsewhere, and this trade might go down as a very bad one for the organization.
 
Merkley isn't going to be a forward. How does it look for the Storm, if you're an NHL team wanting your prospect to develop defensively and they throw him on forward. Not going to happen.

Listen, I'm as frustrated as anyone else with his play... but let's not be ignorant and not see the kid as a human who is obviously having a rough time emotionally. Who knows why or what's gone on for him behind the scenes. As a psychotherapist I can imagine about a hundred reasons we may see what we see. As fans we can be pissed that the team is not performing as well as it should, but let's not pile on.

Guelph loses Ratcliffe and Schnarr after this season. Bertuzzi will be going into his third season next year. Do you project he alone making up that loss over the next two years? If not, you have to know where you are in the cycle and act accordingly. Primeau asked out, I would've rather have seen him be part of a trade package for a big fish but it didn't happen.

Primeau was ONE of a few pre season that "asked" out.....but this is my conclusion and I'm sick of arguing.....this club has a virus .. .. and its nucleus is shrouded ... with symptomatic outbreaks .. ..manifestations.. ..one or three obvious likely ares of concern .. .. but hey..we'll just have to wait and see how far this horse will limp..

Where does your insider knowledge come from? Do you have connections to players or parents? Just curious - this isn’t the first time you’ve alluded to knowing that players asked out, but you’re very vague with details. I for one would like to know the one or three obvious areas of concern that you allude to...the shrouding, the manifestations, the nucleus issue.... come clean if you have sourced or accurate info.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend today's game but seems to have been a good solid effort. Refreshing and hopefully something the team can build on. Nice to see Chayka with 3 points. I really would like to see his ice time increase.

A couple of take away from the game.

Merkley had a much better game than Friday, maybe he should sit more often.

Popovich has to be the most underrated goalie in the league.
 
What was up with Xhekaj, when losing 8-1 with 2 minutes left, going after a rookie he had 2 inches and 40 lbs on?
He's lucky the extra 2 was for roughing, not instigating.

It wasn't a secret Primeau wanted out. It was common knowledge among people closer to the team.

Look up the term "sample size". Popovich and Primeau have had nice little runs of late....not to mention Primeau's being predicated on being given a larger role on the team which, as someone pointed out, he did not earn here. The past two weeks aren't enough for my to throw out the previous seasons worth of data. I'm not saying that what you've posted couldn't be true, just that you're really jumping the gun here IMO.

I'm pretty sure the horse won't be limping anywhere; you've sufficiently beaten it to death.
