I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I still like the first 2 slightly more, but all 3 are great. Probably the only MCU trilogy/tetralogy you can say that about except maybe Spiderman.

Minor spoiler in the background sounds, so if you haven't seen the movie don't watch this:

But we were all like her at the end.

You were crying at the
endless dancing and overall ending corniness
? Alrighty.

Decent movie, could have been trimmed down to 2hr (but that is a problem with most MCU/DCU movies today).

Some of the jokes crossed the believability/stupidity level hard
(why didn't you..., why didn't you ask me)

Felt more like a the end to a company contract than some real emotional finish.

Marvel can certainly still do the big spectacle pieces. And throw in some sappy headstrong tugs as well. You really get what you paid for in this movie.

The pity is, that despite this being a relatively well executed movie, I can’t really recommend it to more casual MCU fans (or MCU non-fans), simply because the weight of all the prior knowledge you’re supposed to have. Heck, even if you’ve seen the previous two GotG movies, this one expects you to have also seen the Holiday Special (on top of Infinity War/End Game). They have some cludgey exposition drops to try and explain what’s going on with Gamora and whatnot, but even the writers knew how awkward it was and spin it off as jokes.

It was too long, tho. They could have cut 90% of the “Orgocorp” section and the movie stays largely the same. It just felt like a method for them to shoehorn Sly Stallone and Nathan Fillion into the movie, and say that they’re keeping it light and campy by having those absurd costumes.

If there’s one thing MCU has been doing better in the past few years than ever before, it’s villains. Unlike Batman (whose rogue gallery defines him and most of his movies), the MCUs villains have usually been mediocre at best. They’ve mostly been origin story fodder designed for the protagonists to overcome so they can join the bigger narrative. A lot of the stand alone villains are rather forgettable (at best, and cringeworthy when it comes to Ultron, Whiplash, Killian, mysterio, etc). But I feel like they’ve hit a few really good ones lately with The High Evolutionary, Gorr, Kang, and The Scarlett Witch (regardless of how one feels about her turn in the broader MCU narrative - she was a simultaneously intimidating and compelling villain). Yet the only one we’re going to get to see more of is Kang (Jonathan Majors offscreen violence aside). I feel like a lot of the potential of Gorr and The High Evolutionary is being largely wasted, which is a bummer. It’s kind of a Star Wars prequel issue (where the one thing the prequels did really well was villain character design, only for both Maul and Greivous to be killed off and used as cartoon fodder for die-hard fans instead).

Loved it. Although the MCU movies haven’t been great recently there are some really good ones sprinkled in there (No way home, black panther 2, now GOTG3).

Seen it twice. Great story and a great send off for this version of the guardians.

Art?
Come on be realistic, less than a year from now how many will still care? Or should students start petitioning for Godfather vs. GOTG Vol 3. classes now?

I'm not hating on it, but I recently watched some Infinity War clips, and it's far and away superior.
Too much nonsensical humor and Gunn's random favorite music playlist crowbarred in do not make this come close to that.

Saw it on IMAX. I liked it and I would put it in the upper half of the MCU movies.
There was a little bit too much music as some have said but it wasn't a deal breaker.
I was surprised at how... dark, it was at times (not necessarily a bad thing).
Worth the price of admission.

I think this is an excellent synopsis of the movie and why so much was poignant and how it wrapped up so many threads started in the first movie.

In the middle It really explains Groot language and how it works and why we might have heard I love you guys but that is not what he said, he said I am Groot but we just understand him now like Gamora now does.

Didnt see anyone else mention this but James Gunn confirmed the High evolutionary visited earth in the 1980s which influenced counter earth.

Re-watched Infinity wars and Endgame the last two nights. Although those were epic movies, still think the GOTG series is better written, and do the characters more justice. May not get those epic battle scenes but I'm willing to sacrifice that for some nice character development and a better written story.

I think the Infinity Saga still deserves points for fitting in as many character development/emotional moments as it did while juggling such a massive cast. Endgame loses more of those points with a lot more shoehorning and weaker writing in the interest of tying loose ends.

But in a nutshell I'd agree, the Guardians movies are easier to sit down, enjoy, and get invested in the characters. Quill, Gamora, Nebula, and Rocket are some of my favorite comic book movie characters period. And I legitimately hold Guardians 1 as just behind A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back as my favorite space adventure/Sci fi movies.

Rocket character really shined and going back he also had a nice role in the Infinity wars movies.

You can go back to those movies after knowing Rocket’s past and explains why he has this rugged outside shell with an attitude but is really a softie on the inside, you see it through out the movies like when Groot was sorta killed in the 1st movie , and when he consoles Thor in infinity and Endgame, but it really all hit the fan in GOTG part 3.

Again, amazing writing and character development, and think this trilogy it’s the best of all the MCU movies.

Infinity War is the best MCU movie, by far for me. Went back and re-watched quite a few of the "better" MCU entries after watching GOTG 3 to try and cement my list and this was the easiest conclusion to gather. It just stands head and shoulders above the rest and IMO is legitimately an all time great movie in general, not even just superhero movies.

After Infinity war, I really think GOTG 3 might be the 2nd best. In terms of those Tier lists people make, I would say I have 5 MCU movies in S tier. Those 5 being Infinity War(Really its S+ tier), GOTG 3, Civil War, Ragnarok, and End Game. And in that order from best to worse as well. After that, GOTG 1, Winter Soldier, and The first Avengers movie would all be flirting with S tier but ultimately I think they're just slightly below.

But yeah Guardians 3 is absolutely fantastic. Just an awesome way to bring the trilogy to a close and do so in a clean and tight way.

Hey, these are good again!

Very refreshing after watching MoM, Quantumania, and BPWF over the past week. Excited to see what’s to come.

Still wish there was just more going on in terms of the overall narrative. With so many characters being sent into their MCU retirement in recent movies, I’m still looking for a reason to be captivated by the overall narrative. Looks like the only thing this film really did in terms of setting anything up for that is that Star Lord is on Earth now?

If you don't understand the underline theme of the music in the 3 movies well that's on you.
