Not at that cap hit.

I struggle to see a match with CBJ in a Hoglander trade though. Provorov would be a rental only, which I'm fine with. Hoglander for Olivier feels...kinda ugh.

There really isn't anyone else on their roster that the Canucks would want that the Jackets would move.

I also don’t see a great match between the Canucks and the Blue Jackets, really.

For all the annual Zub talk, do we realize how injury prone the guy is? I can’t imagine him holding up too well as he ages and with more travel time out west too.

I like the player but there’s concerns

I think Chicago is our best bet to dump Hoglander's contract.

Desperate management, historically irresponsible with money, need guys to play with Bedard.

A random Rangers fan on the main board suggested Lindgren for Hoglander. Ignoring cap, which would be impossible as Lindgren has a 4.5m cap hit but we're in fantasy land, I'd easily do that.

I’m on record as saying there’s pretty much no way I’d trade Willander and Jiricek isn’t even the most interesting player on the Blue Jackets.
I just can't figure out this Willander love.
He is tied with 13 dmen for 42nd in college dmen scoring with many teams having games in hand, 2nd on his own team. This is a good year for him compared to last year?
Tied with 17 players for 54th in blocked shots.
There is nothing in his game stats showing superiority in anything. If anything it shows a few years in the AHL.

Anyway Jiricek was stolen by Brackett and Minny.

Who is next that the Canucks can afford and fit in under the cap?

Definitely looks like Hronek is the next Euro purged from the team so that might open up a bit more cap space.

Will the curious Miller issue be resolved tomorrow as the team has stated?

Will Swifty news overshadow other news?

Stat scouting defensemen is a pretty terrible way to evaluate them, especially when they aren't premium offensive defensemen. Willander is getting hyped because he plays a mature game and his relatively low scoring rate is overlooked because he's stuck behind more offensively gifted players and thus not getting PP points that would boost his offensive stats.

Have you read the scouting report on the guy? He was never projected to be a high end offensive producer. His main strength is his skating which allows him to defend well, especially gap control. It would be a greater concern if he was poor at denying zone entries and consequently gets hemmed in and ends up blocking a lot of shots.

Anyway Jiricek was stolen by Brackett and Minny.

Speaking of Brackett, he sounds a bit like some people's version of Benning here :sarcasm:: "Six-foot-4, right-shot defenseman that was two years ago the World Junior Defenseman of the tournament... He wants the puck. He owns a really big shot. Like, he has an absolute bomb... That World Junior Czech team was very good, and he was the biggest reason why..."

My main hope, and it's total fantasy, is that Waddell does something stupid like trade Chinakhov for Hoglander.
I don't see that happening.

It's a big tell when your main evidence for a scouting opinion is, "checks HockeyDB points column"

Quick notes from Dhaliwal on the Hoglander trade rumours:

  • Get the trade watch going
  • Penguins are super interested
  • Capitals and Blue Jackets are looking at him as well
  • Blue Jacket’s AGM at the Canucks vs Red Wings game
  • Team’s are betting that he will get back to last year’s production
  • Return won’t be Ivan Provorv or Damon Severson
  • Mentions Cole Sillinger as a possible return

Another 18 yr old, Hutson? Canuck pick Celebrini?

It doesn't matter to me until he plays in the NHL, until then his potential might be worth more than reality which could take years. I would be okay with that if the team wasn't in the win now at any cost window they are attempting to maintain.

I was just curious what made him untouchable for some fans/posters especially after some of the absolute bombs of guaranteed prospects.

Cole Sillinger would be an absurd return for Hoglander. There's no way that's true.

Sounded more like Sillinger was Dhaliwal's personal idea not a name he was hearing.

Would be quite a trade if they could actually grab him though.

We’ve all been focused on Hoglander for a defenseman, but it does make sense to shift some winger depth to young C talent, with Joshua/Garland/Sherwood occupying some wing spots and Lekkerimaki coming up. Allvin could surprise us with an ‘unexpected’ move. Save the high draft picks for a defender?

While true, he doesn't really like to express his personal opinions. I suspect he heard that Sillinger was one of the targets.
Guessing you’re right. Canucks would surely have to add though. Also, wouldn’t that sort of take Raty out of the mix? Unless its a long term replacement for Blueger

I would add our next 2 first rounders to get Sillinger for Hoglander.

That is easy contact BU and surrounding news. Oh, that's right you can't anymore unless you use the d@rk web. Boston Globe several different places to find info.
Elite Prospects, central scouting others that are pay sites.
Juloevi's scouting report was glowing but the eye test showed no progress and should not have been drafted that high.
Behind Pettersson now. Both have similar scouting reports but Pettersson's game is moving forward against professional players. College hockey is not pro hockey. The cream of college can make a big impact but the rest may take years before seeing NHL ice on anything like regular time.
College is really good for late bloomers but even top players sometimes take years. Gaudette was really good.
