There are so many good names that we can target all of a sudden with the Rangers struggling and Detroit looking to shake things up again.

I wanna see Buffalo fall off also, lots of good names there also, and the senators.

I feel bad for Senators fans, but the management team deserves this disaster of a season after hiring Travis Green of all people. Anyone with half a brain out here in Vancouver could’ve told you that was a disaster, especially with the quality alternative head coaches available. They’re in the playoffs this year with a competent coach.

Watch them give up Brady this offseason, and someone with a competent coach and leadership group will transform him from a cry baby into their JT Miller.

OOTL, really been focused on my music lately. What's the deal with Miller, why's his name out there? More to his absence or just a target that got leaked?

Pretty weak return for Jiricek. Especially compared to Gauthier and McGroarty.

Bro in my mind Waddell's still GM of the Canes for whatever reason. Probably has to do with the above lol. Thrashers' had a great set of kits, I thought. I just complimented some dude at my work for even having one. Logo wasn't my favourite but wasn't enough to sink them for me. That style of uni really f***s.

Would be Hoglander + 1st I’m guessing for Provorov. I’ve never been a fan of the player but would still be an upgrade. Just has to be with an extension. Can’t afford more rentals.
I rather lose a player to free agency than to extend one with a bad contract. I have no problem with management walking away from Lindholm last summer. Had we signed him to the rumored 7x7 deal, it would've been an anchor that will sit on our book for a decade (you know he is going to get bought out somewhere along the way).

Yeah, but then you go look at what I've called peak-OEL theory which basically tosses the middle buyout years to the gods. Which is stupid in it's own wise little way.

Quinn Hughes is Quinn Hughes, but like cap goes up regardless we still got the $4.5 or whatever as a competitive disadvantage. That's always gonna be a huge huge huge deal for us moving forward. Basically pray some ELC guys pop hard when they, uh, bust out? I guess? Otherwise just ship as many out for the short-run hopium. I've done basically a decade of fan purgatory, what's another?

Rick Tocchet didn't defend him to the media when he was benched in the 3rd, then the next day he's on indefinite leave. It could just be speculation from other GM's that he isn't happy playing for Tocchet, rather than some personal issue keeping him out. I doubt he's sitting because of Tocchet though, he's got a legitimate reason for being out or he'd be playing IMO.

IMO the Canucks could have matched that for potential top pairing RHD large dman and should have.
The Wild just got gifted a star and with their cap hit this year, 15 mil in dead cap space they get back next year, they have constructed a true contender.

CLB get a load of trade assets in return.

This puts enormous pressure for Willander to be better than Jiricek, in this market that won't be forgotten by all

Dahli will be certain to give the Canucks a pass, "a price they were not prepared to pay". Same as Zadorov's departure.

Well this one gone so be prepared to sell lots of assets for another temporary bandaid.

Done in a heartbeat.
Now will be Willander plus for some immediate temporary help now or just picks? No cap space for anything else.
Unless there are legs to the Miller trade rumors on social media and some mainstream US reporters

You like Jiricek a lot more than I do. But ya if management was in love with Jiricek as much as you do they could have beat Wild's deal simply by offering the same deal + Hunt replacement. At this point our 1st should be treated as having a higher value than Minnesota's.

i'd be interested in him too. he's averaged about 30 sec of PK TOI/G over the last 4 seasons. so I wouldn't really be counting on him for that, but what you can count on is him getting in of the forecheck (he's got good wheels) and blowing up defenders. he's also handy to have around if the game gets dragged into the gutter....he's a very good fighter. I think the offense is a bit of a mirage, but who knows. I'd easily swap Hoglander for him.

Saw him fight and crush Lomberg the other day... guy is a straight nail gun. I'd love him on the team

Where on earth do people come up with this stuff.

Miller had the best season of his career under Tocchet and is utilized as Tocc's 1C while being stapled to our best winger and often out on the ice with our play driving D-man.

Can't think of many more favorable environments for the guy.

I said I didn't agree with the assessment, but that doesn't mean other GMs don't think it might be the case. They don't have any more info than the general public, so they are kicking tires.

Because Willander will take 3 or 4 years to develop right?

There's no legs to trading Miller or Willander.

Plus Tocchet regularly gushes about the guy in the media, and this one time he allegedly doesn't is enough to create a massive rift?

"Thrashers" is still the silliest team name in NHL history. A Thrasher isn't really even a thing.
This is a thrasher. It’s actually this bird that the team was named after. I would have mistaken it for a kind of sparrow if I’d come across it.

I can see why the Blue Jackets would want Hoglander, he fits their short guy obsession. Look at these tiny guys on their AHL team:

Grimaldi - 5'6
Fix-Wolanksy - 5'7
Brildey - 5'8
Ahcan - 5'9
Malatesta - 5'9
5’9” is not tiny 😔

With Fabbro’s effect on CBJ… wonder if the Canucks could have traded for him before he went on waivers?
Not at that cap hit.

I struggle to see a match with CBJ in a Hoglander trade though. Provorov would be a rental only, which I'm fine with. Hoglander for Olivier feels...kinda ugh.

There really isn't anyone else on their roster that the Canucks would want that the Jackets would move.

Olivier won’t be traded, he’s a huge fan fave and Evason must love him because he’s giving him the biggest role he’s had so far in his career. The type of player both young/rebuilding teams and contending teams want to keep around

Last season when Rempe was making a name for himself, Olivier tuned him up pretty good.

The Calgary game was pretty entertaining though. I especially enjoyed when he got his hands on that absolute dirtbag Pospisil.

I fear you're right, but hope you're wrong.
