Would be Hoglander + 1st I’m guessing for Provorov. I’ve never been a fan of the player but would still be an upgrade. Just has to be with an extension. Can’t afford more rentals.
I wouldnt do the 1st at all. Maybe a 2nd, but not sure what his value on the market is and with retention as well

provorov isn't worth extending imo. he's a good rental because los angeles is still picking up 2m of his salary but at 7m plus he's an anchor

if he comes cheap sure pick him up but if they pay a significant price it's a mistake

i got bad news for you about the current team

I’d amend it and add “outwardly”.

Beyond Provorov’s refusal to wear the pride practice jersey, there’s been questions and frustrations with his personality. From a hockey perspective I really like him but would lean heavily on the hockey people to know about the behind the scenes stuff with him.

So when do you think the management starts talking about Demko vs Lankinen because that’s a reality thats facing them right now.

Demko with a very high ceiling and his serious injuries

Vs

Lanks with a lower ceiling but very steady and probably a few million cheaper.

He's also openly homophobic, so there's that. Would rather we don't bring in more players of that ilk.
Preface: zero intention of making this thread about Pride. You can look at my avatar and see that I’ve long supported Pride initiatives in hockey.

But I think we are misremembering what Provorov did for one to say that he is homophobic. His issue was that it was against his religious values—but that he respected everyone’s choice.

Declining to wear an optional pride item is very different than saying that he is homophobic—which to me implies having prejudices or causing harm to a group.

But that's the whole point of religion -- externalizing your personal values, ie the values that appeal to you, into a system that's supposedly independent of human values so it's not your fault for having them.

I thought the pride thing in hockey was overwrought and performative, but I also think people like Provorov who went as far as publicly objecting probably don't like gay people very much. On the other hand, if he'd simply given a believable story about feeling as though it wasn't his job to proselytize for *any* cause and didn't like being forced to do it, I wouldn't make the same assumption.

Mathieu Olivier would be my target. Built for playoffs. Tough, hits and fights. Not sure if he’s a pk guy but I think he is?

Would fit very well under the current coaching style.

He’s a pending UFA and a guy I would resign.

7 goals so far this year.

To Cbj:

Hoglander

To Vancouver:

Olivier + 3rd

I think it’s fair based on age and potential.

plus healthier. but lanks can sometimes give the odd bad game here and there if he plays more than 6 games. with no rest. still need to find a reliable veteran b type backup.

I would definitely do that trade
the deal is 1 for 1.

i'd be interested in him too. he's averaged about 30 sec of PK TOI/G over the last 4 seasons. so I wouldn't really be counting on him for that, but what you can count on is him getting in of the forecheck (he's got good wheels) and blowing up defenders. he's also handy to have around if the game gets dragged into the gutter....he's a very good fighter. I think the offense is a bit of a mirage, but who knows. I'd easily swap Hoglander for him.

He’s 5th in PK time among Blue Jacket forwards. This is his highest rate of PK time. He’d at least be part of the rotation.

I’ve watched him a little bit seems like he would be a great fit. Make the same as Hoglander right now I believe. 1.1.

With Fabbro’s effect on CBJ… wonder if the Canucks could have traded for him before he went on waivers?

There are so many good names that we can target all of a sudden with the Rangers struggling and Detroit looking to shake things up again.

I wanna see Buffalo fall off also, lots of good names there also, and the senators.

Not sure there is anyone from Detroit you want to target… I mean the young kids are untouchable so and everything else is just meh
