Sidney, formerly Vancouver
He's been our 3rd best player this season after Hughes and Lankinen.

He always had the talent. It's a bit of a shame that he hasn't been given the minutes to really excel until this year. He was actually trending down in minutes over his time on the Canucks and last year averaging 14.32/game he had his first 20 goal season and was +19. This season he's up over 19 mins per game and his PPG has increased from .573 to almost a point per game.

He went from a guy who we’d have to swallow some of his contract to move off of a couple years ago, to being underrated (outside of Vancouver) last season to our 3rd best player this season (and underpaid).

Things can change that quickly.
And I'm so glad for it. Never wanted him gone. He's always been able to drive play but now he's getting the points and the ice time. If the entire team had half the hustle Garland does this team would be be top 5 in scoring.

i didn’t watch either of the last two games (although someone posted the entire OT from each game on youtube, so i at least watched those) but in the highlights from friday’s game, garland was everywhere. from watching the highlights with a little more puck luck, or with a little worse of a goalie in buffalo's crease, he could have a sam gagner game.

it’s absolutely nuts to see the difference between the garland of a few years ago i would have attached a pick with to camp dump, and him now. he used to own the puck then too, but would just spin and spin until he’d spun himself into the corner with no options. i still think he’s got garbage for hockey sense, but our coaching staff rewired his instincts so that when he spins he spins in the right direction and his tenacity does the rest.

which really is all to say, it’s looked bleak the last month or so but i still have hope for hoglander under this coaching staff.

Garland would have spun himself onto another team if not for Dakota Joshua being the only one perceptive enough to anticipate which direction Garland was gonna be at.
