Thought the tidbits on Brannstrom were a little bit interesting. Mostly because there seems to be a feeling within the Canucks fandom that Brannstrom is a lock to remain on the roster all year. To me he's a guy they may look to upgrade on if they get a chance.
- Unlikely to risk placing him on waivers in the short-term
- Canucks now view him as of it’s top-8 defenders
- Originally viewed as a cap throw-in
- Isn’t sure if Brannstrom has secured a starting spot
- Important that poor performances, like against Edmonton, don’t stack
- The sense Drance gets is that there’s internal questions about his size
- His overall competitiveness and transition ability has been noticed by management
- NHL defencemen that aren’t big, mean, & defensively sound nor elite offense producers will always have a small margin of error
