The news of Pettersson telling management he wants to stay in Vancouver guarantees Miller is gone and EP40 stays - couldn't be any happier if one of the two has to get dealt.

When Pettersson signed his current extension, there was a report that his 1st year is essentially a handshake NMC with J.P. Barry and co, and there is 0 chance they'd do anything to get on the wrong side of him with, especially because he's also Hughes' agent.

None of those AHL players scratched by the Rangers are really popping out either.

If there is a deal, I suspect -

Cap Dump (Reilly Smith? Rangers probably want to give Zibanejad but that sounds like a non starter for all involved)
D-Man (Miller or Schneider?) or C (Lafreniere?)
Middling Prospect

And I’d guess Miller and Hoglander going the other way.
 
Teams can bid all they want but Miller and his family will be the ones who make the choice of where to go and then we will be stuck with that teams offer even if other teams were better
 
agree that NJ is a much more exciting trade partner than NYR is.

(and it's much more logical for NJ to want Miller! I don't understand the Ranger's interest in JT)

Honestly, at this point something around KAM or Lafreniere is probably a good return. Doubt they get Schneider.

Weird, for some reason I recall him being drafted as a centre prospect.

I'd love to get Laf. I think he's going to flourish on a new team.

That’s the joke on this board about him being a centre. I looked back at his junior stats and he didn’t play centre at all in his draft year. Played as a winger and drafted as one as well.
