I'm too old and too dumb to figure this, probably very easy thing, out. How could teams possibly be tampering with Canucks players with regards to a trade? What does that look like? I get it with free agency but trades? I'll hide in the corner for now....

That’s the joke on this board about him being a centre. I looked back at his junior stats and he didn’t play centre at all in his draft year. Played as a winger and drafted as one as well.

Yeah crazy, I seem to recall him being draft as the next big centre prospect, but I may be confusing him with someone else.

I guess with someone like JT it could be a team going directly to JT to ask if he'd waive the NMC?

No, he just sulked his way out of town and basically refused to get along with Pettersson. Difference?

It's been a tough year, I was an advocate of trading Miller before he signed his extension.

I also recognize what he's meant to this team since he's been a Canuck. Got nothing but love for the guy, but it's in the best interest of the organization to move him (As we probably should've when it was reported the Pens had offered 2 1sts for him). It turned into off ice reasons, but even for hockey reasons it's honestly shrewd to move him as we know his value will never be higher.

We’re really going to miss Miller here… we don’t have a player like him, we’re going to be so soft without him in our top 6. I get some people here don’t like him but he has been a beast for us throughout his time here, he’s a guy you want come playoffs. I know we’re moving him but we will 100% miss what he brings it’s hard to find a player like him.

Anytime you're trading a guy above 30 with that many contract dollars left I'm open to it. Especially if you're looking like you're 50-50 on the playoffs. Just another year older next year.

I suspect that if the Canucks have granted permission for teams to talk to him, that they must have some frameworks for deals in place and the teams want to convince Miller they’re worth him waiving his NMC for.

EP making an overture to VAN, even when the team is losing hard, reinforces his buy-in to the environment. This is the drafted C that chose to re-sign for 8 years. There was no assurance that the team would be a winner. Look at what is happening now? And still, he chooses to remain.
