  • Says Blake Wheeler was very similar to Miller in his approach; in your face and that rubbed some guys the wrong way; some media at the game against the Jets said that the Canucks have a very similar feel to when the Jets were going through some tough times with Wheeler
  • Not just about Pettersson & Miller; when you have situations like this it encourages cliques; teams can never find their happy place
the clique thing with the wheeler comparison is probably the most compelling case here for trading miller and dealing with the consequences.

Schmaltz would not be the centrepiece to any deal, but he’s a very good hockey player and I believe he’s good friends with Quinn Hughes

Schmaltz would be your leading scorer atm. He is a good player. Plus some other assets under team control for a player the Canucks really need to get rid of? Unless you see the Canucks starting a mini rebuild?

Cant see Lamoureux being available.

Probably available guys would include Schmaltz, Crouse, and Hayton. On D, Valimaki and Kolyachonok.
I don't see why Utah would want to swap Schmaltz for Miller if they want to improve. Miller is of course the better player in a vacuum but if you swap them the improvement is likely marginal for Utah, especially for this season.

Crouse looks like he's having a horrendous year and the other two likely aren't of interest to Vancouver given LD is our strongest position when it comes to prospects both in terms of depth and being near NHL-ready.

Kesselring as the main piece makes the most sense from a Canucks perspective.

NJ has the pieces but I also think it makes sense because they don’t have anyone like Miller. They also will likely need to get past Florida. Miller would be a great piece to have against a team like Florida.

Mercer seems logical. But only makes 4 million.

Palat also makes sense because of his high salary. Don’t think he’s a cap dump but at 6 million I think he wouldn’t carry much value.

They aren’t going to want to deal Nemec, too risky. Seamus Casey I like but he’s small and the Canucks hate small players.

What about Anton Silayev? Doesn’t have a path to the NHL because of their depth at all.

Mercer
Palat
Silayev

Canucks get a long term solution on D. Because their 2nd best prospect behind Willander (future partner). They get a good 3C and a decent winger to replace Boeser. The salaries work. Maybe the Canucks ship out Heinen as well?

If Silayev and Mercer were in a Miller deal I would be happy.
