Willander is one of those guys where if he hits, he'll be a permanent value guy. The lower point, not pp1 Dmen who can match up are ALWAYS underpaid -- even on their 2nd or 3rd deals. It's usually only once they have UFA status or UFA leverage that they maybe become fair market or overpaid.

Yeah, the single most undervalued asset contractually is this type of player - high-minute defenders who don't get PP1 minutes.

The Mikey Anderson deal in LA is probably the best recent example of this - dude signed for barely over $4 million and I'd consider him a comparable-impact player to forwards who get $6-7 million.

And yeah, Willander projects as this type of asset who is both valuable on-ice and has huge cap/payroll value.

Fehervary is their 2D so I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Likely we've been offered Alexeyev or Iorio.

Totally. There's no chance of Patrick being that dumb. It's why I asked nicely.

I would accept either of Alexeyev or Iorio.

No one in their right mind thought Lindholm was re-signing here and certainly not Allvin. He stated as much when he acquired him. No one can purposely afford to go out and sign $7 mil third line centers anyway. That's absurd. So glad we kept our money to spend more wisely on players we actually need.
Huh? What made you think that?

Allvin said that re-signing Lindholm was a realistic possibility right after the Lindholm trade. He also talked about wanting to re-sign Lindholm before he became a UFA. We reportedly offered Lindholm 7x$7M.

How many Russian sounding players do they have e

I mean considering how much Toch is using Hog, that’s a good deal.
Anything that can add to our defense would have to be seen as a “win”, especially if it has the ability to take Myers off the PK…I’d just prefer a RHD personally, but at this point I’d take almost anything to improve the D.

I believe Connor Ingram was as well with OCD issues.
OCD is one of the most debilitating disorders and i wouldn’t be surprised if 80% of most athlete mental health leaves is because of it. The constant questioning of reality, doubting your thoughts, the compulsion of trying to alleviate the source, and then second guessing everything takes an immense toll on the mind and if you’re an athlete it seriously derails your ability to perform, especially if it’s centered around the sport you play.

Sounds like marriage

If you're the Rangers' GM you wouldn't be doing your job if you weren't investigating if there was something to the Miller situation here and trying to dump Trouba for a legit 1C on a bargain deal.

But, I mean, it's pretty obvious we aren't moving him. Nothing about anything in terms of how this has been handled indicates that the player wants out.
I don't think we are moving him, but the one thing that doesn't get discussed enough (since everyone has been pretty good not to speculate) is that the LOA followed the day after the coach benched Miller and made comments about it the following date in the media. So, its not crazy to think that Miller may be unhappy.

both these rumours seem like the first step in the type of motivating psyche move we used last year on pettersson to get him to sign. "teams are checking in on our guys" is a push without burning a bridge. the rangers one seems mutually crafted. rangers want to shake up their guys and we want to shake up our guy. an inquiry is the gentlest move for the canucks since it implies the team is not at fault for shopping but mentioning it at all suggests it was more than allvin hanging up the phone.
