The warning signs were there in Calgary and Vancouver last season. Fans and GM's get way too caught up in small sample sizes in the playoffs.

so happy that he got paid (supportive of everyone getting paid) and most importantly f***ing things up for the Bruins.

feels like you are just throwing Silovs in there just because, take him off and it's probably enough. If other teams beat it, it won't be because of us not including Silovs, it will be because the 1st is probably higher and the prospect is better. Honestly most teams can beat our 1st and offer a better prospect than D-Petey/KK/Mynio.
Exact same sentence could be about Zadorov.
I thought Zadorov was fantastic last night and one of the best players on the ice for either team, for what it's worth. That performance made me miss him terribly.
I thought he did a really good job but we’ve seen that throughout this career. When he’s motivated he’s fantastic but has long lulls in between.
I can't fathom how anyone thought re-signing Lindholm would be a good idea. And there were a lot of people that thought that!

I didn't mind paying the rental price for Lindholm because
1) Miller-Pettersson-Lindholm-Blueger was amazing centre depth for the playoffs. If Pettersson was even a fraction of his normal self we would of beat Edmonton.
2) We got out of the 2nd year of Kuzmenko.
3) It showed our players we are vomited to winning. That matters in getting them to stay, let alone convincing them to take team-friendly deals. It will matter to Hughea when his contract is up.
The only thing I can say about the Lindholm trade is that by making the trade early is that we couldn't go after Guentzel when he became available.
And yeah, letting Lindholm walk was the right call and we were lucky he wanted to be a 1c and didn't accept our offer. Declining in Calgary the last couple years and is continuing that trend. Also needs playmakers, and isn't a good fit with Pastrnak.
He's not entirely consistent but I feel like his regular season performance last year for us is getting unfairly shat on with the narrative that he had a 'great playoffs, mediocre before that' - I thought he was legitimately good (full value for his $4 million contract) basically right from when we acquired him, if not at the crazy level he hit in the playoffs.
I wonder what Jiricek thinks seeing his contemporaries in the AHL this season. While us older school fans don't like entitled hockey players, there are situations where the player feels he hasn't gotten a genuine opportunity and that's all it is.
There were a lot that went on for Lindholm though. For whatever reason, the birth of a child is talked about so little here on hockey forums. Lindholm this year missed a chunk of camp and he had another son born (prematurely?). There's obviously issues with the Bruins team that extends behind Lindholm (Pastrnak is on pace for 28 goals right now). Combine with Lindholm soon being 30 and who knows where his career is headed.
Still, I'm glad that Allvin stuck to his guns and Lindholm didn't end up taking our offer.

He was pretty dang good most of the time but there were stretches here where he was the low-man in ice time and was a healthy scratch. I had no problem with him as a 4m guy. I don't like him as much at 5m. The reviews out of Boston have not been that great, though.

Yep. He had a high impact playoffs, but his regular season play has been trending down for a bit.
IMO, he's an elite 3C that can still play spot duty in the top six, but his offensive consistency has really gone downhill. Problem is he's being paid like a 1C now.

It was so obvious in real time as well. He was barely an upgrade over Teddy Blueger for the vast majority of his time with us. He cranked it up a bit in the playoffs, adding more of a physical element than we'd seen previously ...which was just enough for a team like Boston - who was/is desperately clinging to relevance - to open up the vault.
i like the idea of Pinto just because of his age and there's still potential upside there (as in, it makes more sense than going after Jiricek), but why Compher?
assuming Miller comes back in relatively short order (and everything changes if he doesn't), 3C is the least of our problems. Petey is figuring it out at center now too - the other way this could have made sense if the lotto line is the long term plan, and you need someone better than Suter at 2C. Blueger has slowed down recently but started the year as probably the best 3C in the league, and now he has Joshua back. maybe two years ago but is Compher today really that much better than peak Blueger?
and that's without even considering Compher's contract - 3 years after this at $5.1M. would way rather spend that cap on a upgrade on the wing.

When that high offensive zone pass went across to his open side as he was racing from the bench to the puck to one-time it, I thought for sure it was going in, a la Game 1 vs. Edmonton. Zadorov when he's on is a force. I'm super happy we got the win last night, but we definitely had some bounces going our way (for once).

We don't know what any offers are yet, or if CBJ is actually serious about trading him. You'd have to imagine their best case scenario is that he actually develops there and they exit their perpetual rebuild.

Gotta feel bad for Future Considerations.
Has hardly had a chance to settle anywhere before being traded again.
But, they have been around for as long as I can remember.

The Canucks figured out how to use Lindholm in his current state, but apparently nobody paid attention ... even Lindholm, who didn't like playing a more checking-oriented role. He would have been fine here if he had slid back into that utilization. He's not at all a first-line centre anymore, and he's even more of a third-line centre than a second ideally (though you could bump him up in a pinch as long as you had a true #1 C). He's still good two-way, on the PK, etc. but is probably more a 40-45 point guy in ideal usage now.
I wonder if Miller will rejoin the Canucks in Detroit. Pure speculation but we can just pick him up on the way assuming he's in Ohio.
