The Willander and Jirecek potential trade is interesting. It is worth mentioning that Willander has yet to face professional competition, and accordingly, is looking like the better prospect as of now, but that can and may change pretty rapidly once Willander is signed. There is a massive jump from amateur to professional hockey, and I think generally, the 18-19 year old that is playing amateur hockey is overrated in comparision to the 20-21 year old that is playing professional hockey and struggling.

I also think that the trade doesn't necessarily need to be perceived as a lateral trade. It really depends on how the Canucks scouting view Willander and Jircek, because its possible that the Canucks scouting believe that Jiricek is currently an NHL player that could play up the line up quite click in Tocchett's system, whereas they may view Willander as being 2-3 years away from being a top three defender. If that's the case, then a deal could make sense.

Personally, I have no idea. You'd need to be scouting both these players to really know whether that type of trade makes any sense, and of course, there is a ton of volatility in prospect development making any projections difficult.

I would never trade a prospect that is as complete as Willander appears to be. Those guys are usually safe bets to hit their potential. That's how you run the risk of getting very burned in a few years, especially since we need his ELC to mitigate the OEL bullshit. Trading someone like Brzuskewicz, who has fallen off a cliff offensively in the AHL, was a much better decision because he had clear holes in his game despite the production.

Canucks reddit during the Benning era was pretty horrendous

Lookiing back now, I actually can't believe the Benning era extended past 2016. That was the worst year I've ever experienced watching hockey. Absolutely nothing went right. Then they lost the draft lottery and picked one of the worst busts in franchise history, right before the best power winger of his generation.

99% of the time, he's out of a job when Willie D gets shitcanned.

Canucks fans are a creative bunch and love drama. Vote For Rory has got to be up there as my all time favorites.
VFR was the brainchild of a Buffalo fan who hated Rory, if I recall correctly. But as it started to gain momentum, he changed his tune that it was about honoring NHL journeymen LOL.

Yes, but it was especially bad there. You couldn't say anything even mildly criticizing the management team without getting downvoted to oblivion and having multiple people reply to you with the most delusional takes imaginable.

There were a lot of those on here too... especially around the beginning.

I remember saying that I was concerned that Benning immediately let guys like Shawn Matthias and Brad Richardson walk for nothing while replacing them with nobody. I had a lot of very angry people responding to me.
