Also for anyone looking to exit the echo chamber and connect face to face with your fellow man, I suggest: real life. It's beautiful, and you're a lot less angry. People weren't made to read each others' minds. We hide the dark parts for a reason. At least we used to.

No I’ll stick to HF Boards

Yeah, I know a lot of the people on here personally so I've twisted the community to fit my own needs.

FWIW @Vector is one of the few who has correctly used social media to leverage himself into a better position. He's using it properly. There is a low common of denominator of man as I see it, that doesn't use it properly. We live in age where by virtue of being literate, curious, and inquisitive can better ourselves and our souls and we use it to spew hate at each other instead of explaining ourselves.

We take it personally when we are wrong. I don't get it. I love being wrong, that's an opportunity to learn. All those who supported the previous regime ought to be doing some soul searching why their great plan never came together.

I have several considerations for how a trade happens within the next few weeks before the birth of "Eight Pound, Six Ounce, Newborn Infant Jesus":

1. Assets that should currently be on the table for almost any deal:
  • Hoglander
  • Silovs
  • Kudryavtsev
  • Alriksson
  • All picks outside the 1st round
2. Assets that should currently be on the table in only specific deals:
  • 2025 or 2026 1st
  • Lekkerimaki
  • EP2
  • Mynio
  • Raty
  • Bains
The rest have little to no value IMO.

I think mgmt is looking at trades involving Bucket #1 but the market is so thin that any combination will not bring back a dman of substance (Top 4).

I also think mgmt is currently reluctant to touch Bucket 2 given the uncertainty around the team atm. This bucket is more for the New Year and TDL.

So right now there is a stalemate.

Mgmt wants to be active/aggressive but only if it makes sense.

Upcoming road trip will be a big indicator as to whether they want to touch Bucket 2 earlier than they like or continue to hold based on the original timeframe.

For anyone looking to migrate to Bluesky, I put a starter pack together of Canucks + NHL media: Canucks Starter Pack

@Vector are you on Bluesky? Couldn't find you.

A few you can add to the list

CanucksNewSummaries (@vcanucksnews.bsky.social) (Vector)

I am and I even posted the link here before.

I just started the switch over from the other site, so thank you all for providing those. Followed mostly all of them.

Twitter is a dumpster-fire designed to infuriate under the guise of "free speech" and THE GLORIOUS RUSSIAN EMPIRE.

Blue Sky is so much better.

There is value to free speech, unfortunately the reality is some people's sensitivities are too high to handle it. There's only so many ways you can try to get through to someone before the cuss words come out.

i.e. idiots don't enjoy being called idiots, even if they are idiots.

Pretty much all of the freedumb people who talk about 'free speech' just completely fail to understand the difference between freedom of speech and freedom from consequences.

'Freedom of speech' means that you can't be imprisoned by the government for something you say, not that you can spout racist garbage and not have your employment or other things affected, or that private businesses are under some law requiring them to publish your garbage.

Freedom of speech means you can say TRUDEAU SUCKS! and not go to jail. It doesn't mean that you can complain on social media that there are two many brown people coming into your workplace and not get fired. But the latter is what a disturbing percentage of the population thinks is the law.

Anyway, hope there's a trade soon.

Dhaliwal's interview with Halford & Brough this morning,

Demko
  • Nice to see him address the media on Wednesday
  • Demko won’t give a timeline and is day-to-day
  • Reports from the media are “off-target”
  • Still has some work to do but huge progress in the last 2-3 weeks
  • Is close
  • Be prepared for the possibility where he might not play on this trip
  • A goalie coach told him the perfect place for Demko to play his first game is at home and not on the road; home games are better for recovery; Canucks have 4 games in 6 weeks
  • Load management when he returns
  • Biggest thing will be his durability after he returns
  • Has been overplayed by 3 coaches
Boeser
  • Being allowed to fly with the team is a big hurdle to overcome
  • Can’t sit on a plane with a concussion without it being approved
  • Skated Tuesday morning
Sherwood
  • Could be the best money-value contract in the NHL
Nikita Zadorov
  • Method to the madness for insiders in regards to Friedman writing about Zadorov back to Vancouver
  • Has talked to enough people to confirm that the Canucks miss Zadorov
  • Acquiring him is a panic move
  • “Absolutely no one in Abbotsford”
  • Prices are high on the trade market
  • Would be a think-outside-the-box move
  • Milstein hasn’t heard the Canucks going after Zadorov
Trades
  • Canucks were so aggressive last season because they were one of the best teams in the NHL
  • Might wait to make moves until Demko returns
  • Not so sure they make a trade right now
  • Might tinker and make a small trade
Max Sasson
  • #1 centre in Abbotsford
  • Needed another centre for the road trip
  • Had 25 teams trying to sign him in college
  • Allvin didn’t promise him anything when recruiting him
  • Agent is Dan Milstein; knew the Sedins would be developing Sasson in Abbotsford
  • Sedins are respected in the league and agents have taken notice
  • Good skater and will provide depth
BCHL
  • Lost a tonne of hockey players due to the NCAA-CHL rules change
  • Recently met with Hockey Canada
  • Will come out with a statement next week about the situation
  • Chilliwack Chiefs have been hit really hard
  • BCHL left Hockey Canada earlier and now these players are leaving for the CHL so they can get Hockey Canada opportunities
  • NCAA scouts are openly coming to CHL games now
  • Have to hold his tongue because certain things are happening between BCHL and Hockey Canada behind the scenes that he can’t tell us about
  • Not sure the plan for the BCHL
  • Elite young players are the ones most affected
  • BCHL should have seen this coming
  • Lots of people thought the BCHL leaving Hockey Canada was a bad move
  • BCHL players can’t go to Hockey Canada national events

Just to add to the 'freedom of speech' and 'echo chamber' talk... No one needs to let weirdos scream at you to be considered informed. These vampires are so desperate for you to open the door and let them in that they'll say anything including gaslighting you into believing you're in an echo chamber (you're not) or by not suffering them you will do an intellectual disservice to yourself (you won't). You're not intellectually challenging yourself, you're just giving toxic rhetoric a place at a table when it used to have none. We were better, more rational people before we opened ourselves to nonsense.

Anyways, I moved from Twitter to Blue Sky recently. It's chill. I talk about my hobbies and shared interests and my career. No one needs to be debating anything, no one needs to be fighting the good fight, no one has every changed the world in a comment section.

Sherwoods next deal will start at 31 i would throw some caution at the wind with doing that right now.....and i love what he's brought just think bodies break down when you play like he does why rush it when he could blow his shoulder this playoffs and struggle next year and then what?

Like a fart, it depends on the way the wind is blowing.

If blowing in one's direction, then yes, one must be cautious.

But if you believe it's blowing in the other direction? Give it all you got while you have the chance.

Good news on Demko, but really concerned about his durability for a long playoff run. I don't recall any Stanley Cup winner with tandem goaltending in the playoffs.

i don't think the window slams shut when hughes needs a new contract but hughes can walk if he wants and it definitely doesn't hurt to have a 4-6m salary cap advantage from paying hughes 7m instead of 11-13m. yeah if everything goes right then 2027/28 the window is still open but a lot can go wrong. gotta leverage advantages when you have them and not take them for granted
But this can happen now too. Bad moves can shut a window at anytime. Our window is now, and I would be looking to make moves
With that in mind, but I don’t think I would have an end date in mind at this point. A lot will be how player age/come back from injuries, and how a few players develop.

For all the shit Drance gets, whether justified or not, he's a really good writer.

Yeah, I read and listen to everyone's opinions.

I usually listen to Drance (among others). He grew up in Vancouver, then worked for the Panthers and is in the know. He's usually rational and likes to say "level up"!

It actually sounds exhausting, disliking someone. I don't stop reading or listening to people I disagree with. I probably enjoy their opinions even more, in fact.

It's the drum pulse of HF, and it keeps the positive and fun circulation flowing.

I recall taking homework breaks in 2004 to read HF. Let's go another 20 years, man.

you say that like it is a bad thing

Anyway, the 'nucks should bring Zad back, no need to fear looking foolish in the first place, I won't* post every day that it was a colossal mistake to let him go

*you know I am lying, I will post about what a colossal mistake it was every day
