JT being put on leave by management would’ve for sure been leaked to Dhali.
By who? Management? JT's agent? No incentive to do so.

Since it's us or Minnesota, they'd have to pay to get him, or we keep him, and we know they want him.
In the unlikely event we don't sign him, and don't move him to minny, he's more valuable and would get a better return than Norris, whom we don't want.
Pretty straightforward.
You can successfully retool when you get fair value or win trades, plus add ELC talent. That's what Washington has done.
Where you go wrong is losing dumbass trades and signing players to inflated cap hits and term.
FYI, Miller has a higher PPG this year (.89 to .82) albeit with better deployment and while being out of action for a sizeable period of the season. It's not Pettersson, despite outperforming Miller to this point.
Its not straight forward at all. The only reason I even propose it is because it'd be part of a chain of events.
In a vacumn, Boeser is worth more than Norris yes. With contract considerations, again Boeser as a UFA is worth more. With injury concerns, again Boeser is worth more.
But im my scenario above, I want center trade insurance. For all the "Hughes will leave if we trade our centers" crowd, I also want Hughes buddy insurance.
And I personally want to sell our centers for the best possible packages, without needing to ensure centers are the focus.
Boeser for Norris accomplishes a bunch of that. Maybe they add a pick or an Oskar Pettersson to keep our Petey levels up, I dunno.

If one really wanted norris for Hughes insurance (unnecessary imo) then just trade some junk for him, Ottawa prob wants out from under.
Either keep boeser or see what minny will give you if you're scared of his extension (unnecessary imo), and end up with Norris ++.
Ya, although Miller’s cap hit is less than 70% of Pettersson. On balance (deployment, possession and counting stats), I would take Pettersson's play over Miller this year.

Everyone should care. A player’s performance can only be measured in context to their cap hit. If you are comparing Pettersson and Miller’s play you should consider their cap hits too.Who cares? The point was about their play.

I mean, they’ve both been bad. And I’m not sure Pettersson has markedly out performed Miller, and at the end of the day, Miller had a higher PPG. So if you want to further define performance with reference to advanced stats or whatever, that’s fine, but we may as well also analyze it in the context of cap hits. Because, again, performance, without the context of the cap, is pretty meaningless. But that's not the context of the original argument. Miller calling out the better player was. Pettersson has still outperformed him this year.
I think that veteran was supposed to be Phil Kessel.
Still not sure why they didn’t sign him. They didn’t use that cap space for anyone else at the deadline.
They desperately needed another offensive winger option in the playoffs—but I feel like they needed another voice in the locker room more than anything else.

I just pointed out that Miller was out scoring him. Then you started bringing in more context which is why I referenced cap hit. But I think they’ve both been bad and I don’t think either has really outperformed the other to a degree where it’s worth talking about. You're overcomplicating this needlessly.
The difference in their PPG, especially with the Hughes deployment, should in no way embolden Miller to keep going here. The salary should be another tell to Miller that he is not that calibre of player.
This is my line of thinking as wellThey should move Miller first for best offer heading into the deadline, and then revisit what to do with Pettersson pending what happens thereafter. I wouldn't move Pettersson until the summer after you see what he looks like without Miller. What if he blows the doors off? Then you can either keep him, or his value is even higher. I doubt his value goes much lower either way.
Is he not a power play merchant too.Norris is making 8 million dollars per year long term and has 52 points in his last 88 games.

you're dreaming.Let’s see if it works this time.
Joel Eriksson Ek. Oh man I would love to trade JT Miller for Joel Eriksson Ek!
