If Schneider is off limits what about Zac Jones? Recently healthy scratched maybe they could get him in the package

Laf & Jones + 2nd round pick (or any non 1st round pick) for JT & Desharnais (or any Dman)

They don’t need a C in a trade.

Just repeat what they did with Horvat.

But they know people will have them over a barrel.

If you trade one of them first, you have to find a C elsewhere and the cost will be exorbitant.

I think even if you start talking to other teams about acquiring a C, they know a deal may be in the works.

So path of least resistance is to get a C back.

Cozens if it’s Buffalo.

I’d bring in JPG in a deal with NYI.

Chytil with Rags.

Too much unknown beyond that.

We are such trade junkies. It’s the easiest job in the world to peddle us trade rumours and we eat that shit right up.

Remember, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Miller would be traded two years ago and he got signed to a seven year contract.

I assume that a centre just has to be in the package. I highly doubt you're going to find some ideal transaction where you swap a comparable 1C straight across ... that seems extremely unlikely. That package should also include a defenseman.

Ryan Leonard is a guy I would think about moving Petey for. Future captain 40+ goal guy. Also think they might go for everything because of Ovi.

Not sure how that deal would look though. Obviously Washington adds.

Don't see why Washington would look to do a deal when they're 2nd in pts%

Full recap of Friedman's comments about the Canucks.

Canucks
  • Canucks are quiet this weekend and there’s nothing else they need to say
  • Canucks are definitely looking at the market for both Pettersson & Miller
  • Should be prepared for all outcomes; one gets traded, both get traded, or no one gets traded
  • Believes all three outcomes are possible
  • Will need a centre in return in a trade; prioritizing a centre more than a defenceman
  • Would assume it’s a package of assets in return for either player
  • Can find no proof that either player has asked for a trade
  • Thinks if Miller agrees to go anywhere, it will in the USA
  • If the Canucks wanted to trade with the Rangers for Zibanejad, they could have done that already

Send Miller and or Boeser to Minnesota. They look like a team that could make a move to strike while the iron’s hot and contend. They have assets to move as well.

Legit question: when is the last time Friedman reported anything of substance?

Cause it’s all vague rubbish that anyone could say based on what’s happened to date.

He’s fallen off a cliff as someone who actually knows anything about anything.

I’d be scared but it’d be kinda fun if they dealt Miller, Boeser, and Pettersson and just engine swapped this team.

Rebuilt title, minor accidents, $20K OBO
You could add Demko - at that point might as change the body too because the car is rusted.

5M and doesn’t have any trade protection

i used Kucherov because i see him do it so often but Its more of a thing than just Miller. And it is more common with older established players who don't have to worry too much about their coaches benching them

Remind you of anyone? Anyhow not great clips as people don't make videos of poor play typically but i love watching the Bolts and i can tell you truthfully i've laughed pretty hard at some of his defensive efforts and line changes over his career. He's also dirty as F and snaps like Miller on the bench and at teammates

Re; Miller. If it was playoffs in a close game i would be pissed off too but over the years i've learned to accept that some scoring stars around the league are willing to stay out and try to make something happen at the end of shifts and sometimes that makes for some heinous line changes. But also it produces some goals.

Sedins were athletic cyborgs so you almost never seen it with them and they were the best i've ever seen at late shift production. Miller is like 230lbs so i think he just gasses right out at times and can't move and it looks awful. He's no spring chicken anymore either and for sure he's going through some health issues

I guess it's acceptable then. :dunno: I get what you're saying but that shit doesn't fly for me star or no star. This one looked extra awful to me but I'm probably just out to lunch.

If you really want to reset the culture in the room—you trade them both. Neither Pettersson nor Miller have demonstrated that they are players that you can build a cohesive winning team around. If you let one stay over the other it sets a precedent that it can happen again.

Jim Rutherford may not always make the best on-ice evaluations—but I trust him to know what needs to happen in the locker room.

It’s nothing new with Miller though…he’s displayed this sort of thing throughout his time here, it’s only less tolerable now that there is drama around him and EP and the team is struggling.

We're heavily injured and holding on to the final wildcard spot. You have to think winning would smooth a lot of this shit over, but here we are talking about trading half the core LOL. What's Rutherford's handle here?

  1. No guarantee that Pettersson doesn't go AWOL again when the games get tough.
  2. No guarantee that Demko is capable of being a workhorse goalie that can play through injuries.
  3. No guarantee that Boeser will be back next year.
  4. Only a few years left of Quinn Hughes bargain contract before he gets paid.
The Pettersson-Miller-Demko-Boeser core had its run and I think they've demonstrated that they can't consistently hold it together long enough for a run. The only player who has really shown that he can carry the load when it matters the most is Quinn Hughes.

You would be doing Quinn Hughes a disservice trying again and again with this group. If you really want to give him the opportunity he deserves you try your best to give him a different group to work with.

And no guarantee Hughes even stays. If this isnt figured out soon and a big window isnt on the horizon why would he

make us offers please we don’t like the current ones
I mean you can't help your thoughts, but the idea of old man Rutherford doing his best Meghan thee Stallion impression in a leopard print thong is one that surprised me.
