That’s a good trade for both. Maata isn’t good but neither is Detroit and Utah needs to do something. They can easily afford to trade a 3rd.

Will be interesting to see if this means the market is more open and prices aren’t going to be too crazy.

Unsurprisingly prices are going to be high since no one is selling this early in the season and everyone wants to add something.

Don't think that Maatta trade bodes well for us but Utah had absolutely no leverage.
I guess when you lose a game to the Sharks with three late third period goals against, desperate times call or desperate measures in Utah's case.

It seems everyone in the league is desperate for defensemen. Guys are going down like nine-pins, and most clubs just don't have any depth in the minors.

Based on those YouTube highlights of Wilander's play at BU, I'd almost be willing to consider signing him to his ELC in March and plugging him into the lineup. Is he ready? Probably not.

But this Canuck blueline is really a shambles right now. And their only other option is blowing a big chunk of their future in acquiring a guy like Zadorov at the TDL.

And speaking of Zadorov, watched two periods of the Boston-Philly game tonight. The Canucks dodged a huge bullet by not re-signing him, based on what I witnessed tonight.
