No interest in Liljegren at his price point/cost.
Yeah it would have to be a screaming deal for us, but like I mentioned earlier we don't really have the right kind of inefficient contract where that would even work for us.
No interest in Liljegren at his price point/cost.
Yeah I mean they are just running through all of their internal options first, but I think we know that we're going to need to augment this D core even if Brannstrom is a fit.
What are people's thoughts on Lljiligren? It's a tough contract to take on at 3MM x 2 without sending back some money, but all of the guys we might move for him are recent UFA signings and it would be pretty ratty to move them a few games into their Canuck tenure.
I know he became a total whipping boy for Toronto, but have this idea in my head of him having generally good underlying numbers, and a mobile RHD with really good hit/block rates.
No interest in Liljegren at his price point/cost.
would love to add liljegren
heinen would be a good player to send back, but as you note, kind of a dick move. so maybe suter? he's surplus value at his cap hit, but not necessarily for roster fit. it's the boston/tampa/vegas way of doing things. especially if you can get paid something to take liljegren at that contract.
hmm interesting. thoughts on him as a player though?
i have the same perception as @timw33 - thought he was pretty good in sheltered minutes, eye test has always been reasonable, figured his whipping boy status is classic leaf overcompensation after years of proclaiming him the next top pairing defenseman and not having that pan out.
Justin Schultz is also still unsigned an is Kelowna based in the offseason.
I like Spence but he's probably too short for Tocchet.
Gavrikov (50% retained) and Spence for Myers and Forbort is basically a 1:1 swap cap wise. That’s my thought process as well but he’s about the same size as Bear (2cm difference) and didn’t have a problem playing him.
Ideally Spence comes with Gavrikov so you get a big PKer that’s also a legit top-4 defencemen.
How do the Canucks fit in 7.4m under the cap you ask? MAGIC
Let's be honest, Myers isn't waiving his full NMC on his brand new contract. It does however turn into a 12 team no-trade list in the last year.Gavrikov (50% retained) and Spence for Myers and Forbort is basically a 1:1 swap cap wise.
Brannstrom and Spence are the same player.
Oh yeah, zero chance they trade Myers. Wasn’t serious with that.Let's be honest, Myers isn't waiving his full NMC on his brand new contract. It does however turn into a 12 team no-trade list in the last year.
Also I don't know if I'm thinking of someone else, but wasn't one of the reasons Myers wanted to stay was because his kids have serious health problems and he's happy with the level of care they're getting here?
Can almost get there with Desharnais and Sprong.Oh yeah, zero chance they trade Myers. Wasn’t serious with that.
IMO Brannstrom is pretty much an equally capable/talented player as Lilegren. But he's a third of the price. Just give him some run.
Liljegren also has very serious flaws on retrievals and handling forecheck pressures, which will limit his ability to be a "true" top-four D.
They both play hockey. How does Brannstrom compare to Wolanin?
While I think EP rebounds, I think when we traded for Lindholm last year it might have been ideal to do it then. I am concerned that the large contract is in his head.Myers is retiring a canuck.
ep however I'm not sure I'd make that bet right now.
(unlikely I know but they were clearly quite ready to trade him seven months ago..)
AkCan almost get there with Desharnais and Sprong.
Come one Blake. You need more size and scoring! Forbort, Desharnais, and Sprong for Gavrikov(50%) and Spence!
