By the deadline I'm expecting the change to take place, few managers have a challenge this big ever in their careers, but they can make the team better going forward, at the same time we can drop the ball massively.
As far as the media goes, I really think they have under reported it, and whatever is being talked about isn't in my opinion negative, sure it exacerbates the tension a bit but this isn't a negative media moment
I think most people thought the Hronek trade was a win. But since he hasn't really been hugely better. Hughes is getting great numbers mostly without him.
Now two of those picks traded are key players at the WJC's for Sweden and Detroit.
Whereas Hronek, regardless of the reported lower body procedure, which could be true but that could be one of two procedures with the shoulder issue being in there as well. What leg injury requires 8 weeks? And if so he won't be coming back then if he spent up to 2 months off the ice not skating. EDIT - now showing upper body injury on one site HF Reference;
Upper-Body The Vancouver Canucks placed D Filip Hronek on long-term injured reserve on Thursday (Dec. 5).
The media around here has been doing as they are told, they just about all work for Rogers, the team or rely on the them for income. That is why they don't "break" any news until reported by independents. This is and it has not been uncommon, before social media (who knew about O'Brien at the Roxie?) to keep somethings out of the limelight. Media often monitored themselves keeping a lot of personal stuff out of the news. There were always rumors about some stuff but then mostly snippets and then media kept silent or just buried that stuff.
Now it is mandated.
This "rift" has been around for years, sometimes it gets revealed and can't be covered up easily. How many remember Miller and Horvats comments after the Covid season in the dressing room? Miller had to go public recanting his and Horvat's got dismissed as "after the game", he didn't really feel that way.
RRiiiight!
Notice how they don't do dressing room interviews in Vancouver anymore. They do in other teams. The room has issues so "out of sight is out of mind".
TOMORROW COULD BE A BIG DAY
For the Canucks the schedule will heat up quite a bit. Less practice time, games every two days, more higher competition (better teams) fighting for a PO spot. Lots of "4 point" games against conference rivals.
Even if Hronek gets cleared as now healthy IF he had a leg procedure that would have kept him ff the ice so it will be further weeks before he is effective.
While it was good the team won their last game, there were lots of areas of concern still, first that team is 2nd worst in the league, Canucks were still out shot in the third period and if not for a judgement call from the "war room" the score could have been much different. There have been many goals disallowed with a lot less interference in the league. Garland went into the blue unaided, his stick made contact with the goalie, he stayed still in the blue untouched, hooked the goalie's stick even if by accident preventing it being used to stop a shots or off balance the goalie. That could have easily been disallowed, instead it counted, a penalty was called and within seconds the Canucks scored again. 17 seconds apart for a 2 goal lead.
This was a win, but not really earned, more luck.
Pettersson left the game in the third, I reviewed and could not find an instance where he was hit badly and in the usual Tocchet black hole of info, "he was banged up" but it must have been a different game. Now will he play tomorrow? Or was he pulled ......? Just thought I would throw that in there
Only confirmed rumors allowed but if confirmed then are they still rumors?
I guess what will happen now?
