It was far far far worse with Messier and Linden. It was incredibly toxic the first season after the lockout.

I don't think of that in the same way, really. That was more an acquisition coming and and things changing overnight, a lot involving Keenan and front office politics. This is like two guys who've played together for quite a while just getting to the point they can't play together. We've had animosity in core groups before, not really like this I can recall. This is more like the Kesler, Mitchell, etc. situation on steroids.

I’d tell them to stop their f***ing bellyaching and do your f***ing jobs. It’s a game where a bunch of grown men with sticks, on a slippery surface, get paid millions to hit a piece of frozen rubber with said sticks.
Or, failing that, take it outside in the alley and settle it.

I've been doing a lot of coaching this year, and man if I had two guys being divas like Miller & Petey I think I'd lose my mind and go on one of my classic tirades of embarassing the name on the front of your jersey even more than the one on the back.

You have all the talent in the world, proved you could contend for a cup the year before when you play the right way, but can't stop getting in your own way because your personalities don't mesh.

This is 100% on both guys. They need to grow up and realize you don't need to be best friends to work together, and are very likely 90% on the same page + want the same, and the 10% they're arguing about literally is not worth the drama.

The leadership in the room also has to get involved - guys like Kesler had similar issues, but Bieksa/Burrows/Sedins were amazing at keeping everyone on the right path & rowing in the same direction.

Alvin needs to get his shit together with a puck moving dman, but if these two don't figure their shit out it's all pointless.

Sabres fan. What would the Canucks need if the traded Pettersson or Miller? Just looking for in general team needs. Thanks in advance!
EP for Dahlin

Or think what you would want for Dahlin if you had to trade him. What kind of package from Buf would you accept in exchange for Dahlin? That's what we want for EP.

Miller a lot less, something around Byram or Power but he wouldn't waive for Buffalo.

We need a LD that can carry a 2nd pairing but the problem is that as soon as we trade either EP or Miller we immediately have a huge hole at centre so a trade doesn't really make sense.

at this point I rather trade Miller. Last time it was his rift with Horvat and now its his rift with Pettersson, before that, there were instances were he had rifts with Boeser although those were just small samples of games. Petey also played pretty well amidst Jt Miller leaving the team. He and Debrusk stepped up their game. Miller comes back to the team, Petey starts struggling. I love MIller btw, I also love petey too, but clearly he's had beef with others in the past.

we won't know that for sure. Buffalo is close to his hometown, its a low key city.

also the Owen Power for Jt Miller. lol. What are you guys smoking man. Nobody is gonna do that. It s probably 1st round pick, 1 blue chip prospect and a roster player.

Miller's value isn't as much as people think, he has a NMC he has final say and other teams know that. It's going to be the standard 1st round, a disposable roster player and the teams 3rd or 4th best prospect, none of which helps this team now.

Absolute dogshit moves by Allvin letting Zadorov and Cole walk in favor for Myers, Desharnais and Forbort. Losing these two defenseman are absolutely killing us this season. Not only preventing goals against, but I bet these two vets would clear up the Pettersson/Miller bullshit right away.

Isn't that the same with Linden and Bure? they are not exactly best friends, but they learn how to respect each other?

I've posted elsewhere but I'll repeat it here too.

Allvin and Rutherford aren't getting nearly enough criticism for how poorly they handled the off season in terms of defense. Yes, Sherwood, DeBrusk and Lankinen have all been great additions but the fact we're deploying five guys who wouldn't play above 4th on a good day, and are better served on the third pairing or a 7th man rotation is inexcusable.

I just don't know how you look at Soucy, who's been a career bottom pair guy until last season, and Myers who literally only played well his first season here and his sixth and think, "oh, they'll definitely repeat that performance." Or how they seemingly thought Juulsen would be remotely consistent.

And don't even get me started of Desharnais' asinine contract.

Just going to put this out there. If we didn't sign Forbort and Desharnais, we could fit Tanev at his exact contract. Not saying that's what we should have done but it just highlights how much better our defense could have been with similar money.

Management completely shit the bed this past off-season when it came to the back-end, and with the contracts they handed out to a couple of Swedish forwards this past year.

I honestly lost a lot of faith in them.

I'm convinced this shit defense is the real underlying issue with the entire team, and this whole dressing-room drama crap is window dressing.

Been feeling the same myself. And that reddit post I linked last week only emphasised just how much the team relies on Hughes for damn near everything. Although, they were speaking more about Petey's struggles due to him not playing with Hughes as often.

Either way, I think a big reason we have practically zero transition game is the forwards has to do almost everything themselves because no one can set them up properly except Hughes. I don't know if Marcus Pettersson is the answer but they need to pay whatever price is being asked for someone to actually move the puck.
