Trader Jim has lost his balls.

We are probably not seeing any trades.

Derek Forbort will be our biggest addition this month and you will all be happy about it.

Man we're getting spoiled and selfish.

A slightly better Desharnais got traded today and we didnt get him.

A slightly bigger Nils Hoglander got traded today and we didnt get him.

A slightly better Mark Friedman signed for 3.75 got traded today and we didnt get him.

Last year we got the best early forward and defenseman available. Then when an even better forward became available we went after them too.

We've turned over like 17 of 23 daily roster spots in the last two years.

A Borgen or a Carrier or a Kakko isnt the solution here. We have no assets lets not waste the ones we do have on projects and slight replacements.

Carrier would have been a big help. He can actually move the puck and more consistently move up the lineup to cover, plus then we could have bought out Myers in summer.

Listen man, there is no time for logic or reasoning.

I just want trades.

Myers will never be bought out. He will play here until he is Gordie Howe retirement age.

I get it. I want action too. But we're not rearranging deck chairs here.

Dante Fabbro was on waivers. If we wanted to trade the red paperclip (vinny) brick by brick until we had a marginal upgrade we most certainly could have.

We're actually only a couple pieces short of a championship team!

Upgrading on Vinny to Carrier, isnt gonna put us over the top.

How about we focus our slim assets on players that are guaranteed needle movers.

Maybe someone that knocks Myers down to 3RHD and we let Willander cook.

Carrier at 3.75 plus a Myers buyout and we play Willander by default is what Benning would have done after he overpaid for Alex.

Myers buyout this summer isn't that bad and then we could replace him with someone good instead.
you want to trade for Carrier (who has been horrible this year) and then buyout Myers because Carrier takes his place. So effectively you're paying Carrier $4.6MMnext year and $5.25MM the following. How does this make any sense whatsoever?

Myers is a sunk cost, the math doesn't work like that, and Carrier will bounce back.

Myers hasn’t been as good as last year but he’s also no where close to the biggest problem with this defense.

They just need that 3rd stud d man. Soucy as 4. Myers drops to the 3rd pair. He struggles when he’s moved up the lineup.

Also a lot easier to swallow at 3 mill vs 6.

I would really love Byram. Runs the 2nd pair. 2nd pp unit. Can play 21-23 min a night and also bring Hughes minutes down. Exactly who this team needs.

heck
So the Canucks could make a trade after tomorrow's game...but only with non-Eastern time zone teams  (game will be done around 9:30PM PT, which would be after midnight Eastern time)

They can also send down/call up players until 11:59PM pacific time

Feels like a mini TDL. Has it always been like this? I actually cannot recall what it was like from previous years.

i remember the brian burke years, he ALWAYS made deals before the holiday freeze he didnt like waiting no matter if the team was winning or losing. that is kind of like jim rutherford dont want to see too long and strike early.

You don't have to make a trade before the freeze, Don't get desperate.
If a good deal is there, great.
If not, just take it easy, and wait until after the Freeze.

There are only a few D-men i would overpay for, Byram/Dahlin is two on the list.
I have zero interest in another UFA since this team has not shown enough so far this year.

Both good targets, but it will probably take Pettersson or Miller to get both, which is a tough pill to swallow. Buffalo will not be interested in a full futures package.
I didn't say they would be... but I personally have no problems moving ep (+?) for both (+?), and think there's a massive fit there for both teams, that the smoke suggests they're exploring..
