at least the management knows the value of the player they are trading and they won't just wrap him up with a bow and gift them to a franchise, there probably are 2-3 teams making offers and they are waiting for the scales to tip in their favour, you only get a couple opportunities to make a meaningful trade on this level and we aren't gonna botch it

In all likelihood there is a second trade locked and loaded to trade the 1st round pick we acquire for the prospect/player we also want

If Pettersson only played better because Miller was out, then we really need to question Pettersson's character. Is he really that big of a baby? You're in the NHL dude making more money than like 99% of everybody else in the league. Grow the f*** up.

Lol the league. He's making more money than 99.999% of the entire world.

He literally just need a doctor's note on concussion and then he can LTIRetire.
Most people that are in his earning bracket can't say the samw

Dhaliwal is reporting the Canucks have been after Roslovic for a few years now. Hurricanes in the mix.

Canucks looked to acquire Roslovic a few years ago when he was on Columbus and was coming off a good season. Also said the Canucks liked Kotakaniemi in his draft year...which was 7 years ago. Dhaliwal's information is pretty outdated in who the Canucks currently like.

I've had a bunch of different co-workers, with all sorts of personalities. It's annoying when someone less deserving of you gets praise and coddling (happens lots). But I've come to the point where I'll straight up refuse to work with disrespectful folks.

If you work for me, you're gone.

If I work for you, I'm out. I can take a scolding for things I screw up, but when people start coming unglued for their mistakes, blame others, and don't treat them with respect (particularly in public), that's a no go for me.

I have a feeling Miller is in that bucket. For example, furiously yelling at a young goalie to get out of the net. Just my take.

But working around that just drains the whole group and productiveness dives.

yeah regardless of whatever else is going on with the team and the relationships behind the scenes it's pretty clear miller is at the very least a negative catalyst that has to be removed. if you try to remove the other stuff that's part of the friction instead you just risk new problems arising and starting the whole circus back up

all the other problems with this team need to be solved but dealing with miller has to be the priority

This infatuation to acquire a C back in any deal is insanity.

Especially when Chytil is broken and Roslovic just isn't good.

Very frustrating.
Smartest thing we can do is hold onto Miller, if a trade that's right presents it's self then do it but you can't trade out of desperation here. I wish the media would piss off already pouring gas on the flames, just hurts the team.

Ive always believed Miller wouldnt return what many thought and Chytil, Lindgren and a 1st is exactly what ive always suspected.

But man is it a baaaad package.

Lets play devils advocate though, is Lindgren actually the answer behind Hughes as a legit staple of our defense?

26 yr old UFA to be.

Rangers fans will tell you he's already broken down, just a meat shield for pucks because he cant get out of the way.

Is he worth anything as a pending UFA?

We add our 2nd and upgrade to a 1st through a Winnipeg type?

If its worthless contract slots like Josh Bloom and Akito Hirose, is there any value in Adam Sykora and Jaroslav Chmelar?

Sure theyre better than Bloom and Hirose but neither exactly pushes the needle and moves our prospect group into a better position.

Then there's Filip Chytil. Lets say he can stay healthy, can he be an answer as a longterm top6 center for us because surely he cant have much reflip value leaguewide..

Brutal trade any way you slice it but i'll be glad to move on and take whatever steps forward we can.

From Dhaliwal's opening segment.

Miller
  • Not a coincidence that the trade talks heated up after the Thursday loss; enough was enough
  • Usually don’t see management gather together like this before the trade deadline
  • Called Miller and told him he wasn’t going to play on Saturday
  • Deal with the Rangers broke down because of the Rangers and not from the Canucks or Miller’s end
  • Miller has not asked for a trade
  • 6 weeks ago that the Canucks decided the dynamic between Miller & Pettersson wasn’t working and had to trade one or both of them; need to change the chemistry in the room
  • Does not believe Braden Schneider or Alexis Lafreniere were a part of the trade
  • Maybe Filip Chytil, Ryan Lindgren, prospects, and a 1st
  • Canucks know they won’t win a JT Miller trade; not in a position of strength
  • Offers haven’t been great for Miller
  • Canucks have given teams permission to talk with Miller; Friedman has said to keep an eye on the Hurricanes
  • Mentions Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Jack Roslovic as two players the Canucks have really liked in the past; tried to acquire Roslovic when he was in Columbus
  • Hurricanes talk has picked up this morning; keep an eye on them
  • Miller & Tocchet were sick so didn’t attend the Dice & Ice Gala

Yeah, you have to think he means that in the context of “they are ok with taking him back to offset cap hits” and not “they view him as positive value in the deal”.
