I can understand that this kind of trade, given the circumstances, will be very difficult to "win". The problem has been publicized like no tomorrow, and the only reason TSN's not covering it 24/7 is because we all need to know important information such as the color of Matthews' socks and what kind of shampoo Nylander uses last evening.

I am prepared for the worst. Again, even at this hour, I find myself not really upset about much of anything.

The problem is that they peddled this narrative around a 3-4 year "competitive window" largely based on Pettersson, Miller, Demko, and Hughes. They gave Miller/Pettersson HUGE deals on this premise. They are now looking to trade one of those pieces for pennies on the dollar, Demko and Pettersson look broken, and Hughes is standing alone. They now appear ready to try to peddle this narrative AGAIN without the top-end pieces. This would be very Benning-esque if they went this route.

They may not "win" a deal, but degrees of loss are kinda key here. We just need multiple teams bidding against each other....hopefully that will happen. Gaining a Miller is a pretty substantial move for a playoff team.

so just reviewed this drama with mrs krutov who watches all the games but reads nothing and rarely says much. kind of shocked by the strong response. will also say mrs krutov is ime a dead on people reader. countless times she has shocked me with her insight into employees she has only met briefly in formal social situations.

i will summarize, vector style

-she would trade pettersson if she had to but just believes pettersson just needs to grow up. no way would she trade miller.

-jt miller is 5 times the impact player pettersson is because of his passion and leadership and because he can impose himself on the game and back up his play physically. pettersson brings none of those things.

-pettersson is more inconsistent at playing his game well than miller is.

-pettersson wants to lead but without putting in the effort to overcome his stand offish personality. he wants to be respected as a physical impact player but won't pay the physical price and "goes all bambi all the time". he makes a show of being physical on the ice from time to time but is generally a soft player, which would be ok if he accepted that and didn't try to act otherwise.

-miller is frustrated he got passed over for the c and has to share the team leadership. he should be allowed to lead the team with hughes.

-if pettersson wants to also lead he needs to back off for now and accept that hughes and miller run the team and get to set the tone. he should concentrate on being an impact player with the skills he has and stop trying to be what he is not.

that summary is not doing her rant justice. it was crystal clear and very persuasive.

Boeser sounds like he is on the market aswell. Which makes sense with all we've been hearing this week regarding Miller trade possibilities and a new direction with the team.

The implications from failing to advance last season have been utterly catastrophic for this franchise.

Miller went back to being a bozo and will likely get moved for pennies on the dollar, nowhere near what we should rightfully be getting for a player of his caliber.

Pettersson was forced to play through a debilitating knee injury for nothing, which may have permanently affected his mobility.

Boeser likely wants too much money for what he's worth to this team and they'll have to let him go. Guy gets one last shot at a big money deal and will probably land as a complimentary piece somewhere else after we trade him at the deadline.

Demko's injuries have destroyed his ability/confidence in his own game and he's no longer an elite goaltender. Likely just a guy who can only manage 35 games a season. He'll be shipped off for whatever we can get for him before his contract expires.

Hughes is two years away from being able to walk for NJ in free agency and join his brothers on what already looks like a team that is ready to enter contender status. His parents also live in the East...why would he choose to stay here? This was something that was at risk of happening the second NJ drafted Luke. This team looks like they're headed for a mini rebuild or a retool at the very least and I'd be shocked if he wants to stick around for that when he's currently the best defenceman in the league in his prime.

Worst of all - failing to eliminate the Oilers gave them a run to the SCF, which allowed them to keep Draisaitl and likely McDavid for the rest of their careers. That would have been a death sentence for their core, and instead they will be a giant pain in the ass for many years to come.

I wouldn't be surprised if they end up trading EP as well. It's just that JT has become such a problem that they need to get rid of him ASAP.

• Blue Jackets may be interested in acquiring Boeser as a rental; they hold him in high regard
• Well-liked by his teammates and enjoys living in Vancouver

It's also painful because this management group signed a lot of players to term last summer. Myers, Desharnais, Heinen, Hoglander and Debrusk are absolutely useless in the grand scheme of things. It's only 15 mil but it irritates me that we could have signed a bunch of replacement level fodder to at least give us an opportunity to maybe take on some cap dumps along with assets over the next 2 seasons.

I still think if we had kept being a good team this year and were well en route to the playoffs we'd never hear anything about this dressing room stuff. Management effectively tanked the franchise with an absolutely terrible strategy this past summer.

Just to emphasize how much JR and Allvin have bungled this entire situation and continue to do so, the rumored Rangers deal for Miller is about the same (if not arguably worse) than what Benning got for a 43 point Kesler.

Which is why the blame for all of this rests squarely on their shoulders. JR and Allvin had a great first season, but they completely failed to build off what they started and have taken several steps backward.

Tocchet also failed to get ahead of this thing, and maybe even caused it to get worse based on reports that he encouraged Miller to ride Pettersson into the ground.

Drury is an awful GM and we should be taking full advantage of that, even with Miller having a NMC. If they can't do that, he's the last person they should be taking a bath dealing with.
