France has often played with 3 true midfielders and just 3 attackers under DD. At times they've had Griezmann in the midfield trio to give them 4 attackers, but those have been the exception, not the rule.

I don't understand what the Dutch plan was. If you're going to play with 2 defensive FBs then you can't also play with a very pragmatic midfield trio. If that's your back line then you need to play with 4-5 creatives/attackers to play around a modern press like RR has implemented with Austria.
