Matthews looks fine on the PP, but you can tell that Laine is just so much more of a threat there. Really closes the gap between them in 5v5.

Too bad most of the game is played 5v5 where Matthews is better than Laine and its really not close, especially today.

It's just the reality. Matthews will get his on the PP but his skill set will never compare to guys like Laine/Stamkos/Ovechkin on the PP who have world class one-timers. The shot in that scenario is just worth so much.

Agree there, but I responded to a quote saying Laine was more of a threat this game 5 on 5.

I find Granlund to be Finland's best player so far, and Matthews is US' best player thus far.

Definitely, but there's guys in the NHL who get 4-6 minutes of powerplay time per game. Laine with that many? He's going to help a team A LOT.

That's not at all what I said though. I said as players there's a clear gap between the two 5v5 but Laine's advantage on the PP brings their values as players so much closer. Maybe I worded it badly.

This period been horrible, 3rd penalty and pretty soft calls. anyhow finns can't really get play going as too many special teams.

the way the USA is set up on the PP Matthews is on his off wing and is used a the playmaker. Vatrano is the 'shooter'. Although we all know Matthews has a lethal shot as well. I don't think he uses his one-timer that often though
