Jokinen-Barkov-Laine line played like 5 shifts. There was not much to see.

is Laine normally on the left or right ?

Laine with 2 grade A chances there, either could have easily found the net. Ultra dangerous. Got a little careless on the turnover but was a pretty bad goal honestly. Matthews has looked all around excellent. A few good defensive plays, showed good burst. I wish the Barkov and Matthews lines were rolled more often but hard to complain about this "sneak peak" type situation.

It's about as fair game as the Matthews turnover that led to the Marchand goal. These kids are going to make mistakes.

That turnover wasn't very bad though. It was near the end of the game with the US trying to produce offense. Matthews enters the zone and sends a backhand sauce to the streaking winger and Duchene somehow 180 bats it out of the air. The US coach said he didn't care about that turnover as they were trying to take more risks to get some offense.



Either way one play doesn't make a player.

If Larkin ever becomes better at getting a shot off on the rush, he'll be super dangerous. As it stands, he almost never gets that first shot to work. It always gets deflected to the boards.

To be fair, the penalty on Foligno for slash was a joke, it's not a slash when you lift a stick and the opponent doesn't grip his stick.

Matthews line is absolutely dominating his line so far. Clean strip of Laine by Matthews which leads to a USA goal and a Matthews assist

Dominating is a bit of a strong word for this game.
