GDT: Group B - May 21 - Sweden vs Russia

Ovy and Kovy continue their bad play. Hopefully this is their last tournament in the national team.

I also have to admit that Markström looks more confident than Lunkan. He's calm and doesn't do any hefty movements in the net. Solid. Only based on one period here though. Still time to **** it up.
Yeah, no kidding. I'm a huge Lundqvist fan. Even I admit Markström is the guy to go now, he's just getting started. He's more solid than Lundqvist and doesn't need to get pissed to shut the door, he just shuts the door.

Poor transition game by the Russians due to shitty passes. They need to improve on that.

Eriksson is, as we say, useless as **** on a bull.

Yeah. Is there any way Markström wouldn't be the clear go-to guy in this tournament if Lundqvist didn't have his overall career status? It should be obvious to everyone at this point that Markström is superior.

I think Russias main problem is that most stars on that team are getting old. I mean guys like Kovy, Ovie, Geno are over their prime, in Kovy's case its even by a large margin.

The new generation doesnt seem to be as skilful, with Kuch being the only exception.

Another traditional Russian problem is its defense. If the offense is getting older and slower then outscoring the opposition may prove to be an even bigger challenge I guess

If he keep this up for 60 minutes today it would be very questionable from Grönborg not to play him in the QF. But we have seen Grönborg go against any logic so many times before that it wouldn't be surprising at all if Lundqvist still going to start next game. No matter what. I have a feeling that is the case.

Well, at least for something it's really smart by Grönborg to play Bratt a ton in a back to back game where he wants something to prove. He's been excellent.
The least.

And in medias there are speculations already that Russians are losing on purpose :D

Well, if he ever had the guts to, he could show Lundqvist his mediocre saving percentage and say you're just an edge off the #1 spot. IF Markström is excellent in this game.

Don't know about that. Apart from Kucherov they've still got guys like Panarin, Kuznetzov, Tarasenko, Dadonov and Sergachev, that's a lot of skill.

It's crazy how much low center of gravity, balance and technique means when it comes to shielding the puck and winning battles.

Lando isn't that big but still just bullies everyone.
