There have been instances in the past, not much anymore for a long time now though but it depends on the scenario.

I mean why? has any of their fans ever cheered for Canada? they sure as hell don't here do they?

And it's an underdog situation here and you know how that goes with fans most times. if the team you cheer for isn't playing you are nearly 100% going to be rooting for the little guy, very natural.
