Ehm, this is a forum primarily aimed for North Americans. I'd imagine there to be more talk on some German hockey forum.

Sure but for the country with the 3 most population in this tournament ist still pretty low attandance. Maybe my neighbours the Czechs, have more in this thread as Germans.

Here I am. How many posts do I have to make to show the hockey world that Germany does care?

American Football? Lol.

You get one game NHL per week on a big channel. You get one game a week if you are lucky of DEL on a sports channel. There is almost no TV coverage of hockey in Germany. WC and Olympics, that's it. Sad, but true.

Have you ever read a word about American Football in a newspaper or something, though?

I read my news online mostly but I doubt it. That's true.
What I read everyday is Spiegel online. They cover just as much hockey as gridiron, that is almost nothing. You probably read more about Biathlon than either.

Now that there is MoBo you'll certainly see an increase in that. I haven't read much hockey either though. There used to be a magazine I bought, it got cancelled ... that's pre-HFB though.

Mind you there is a weekly NFL program in Germany now, not for hockey though :( I think like decades ago Eurosport used to do some NHL programm. But yeah, those times are long gone.

I mean, you have a point. If you want to watch it, it's probably easier to do that and of course there's a lot of hype about the Super Bowl every year but it's not regularly presented to the average German.
I think my hometown has an American Football team (or used to? Or used to, and has one again?) that played in something like the second league but I couldn't even tell you if it still exists. The DEL team is covered regularly in the local media, though.

I come from Ludwigshafen which is literally a stone throw away from Mannheim. You don't see anything about the Adler, in Mannheim you can, you are right. But it's extremely local (at least in my case).

Anyone know the viewer ratings for the German games?

I don't know about the methodology but according to a website that publishes these statistics, 470.000 people watched the match against Canada yesterday (ranking 26th among all "shows" on that day).
The WC qualification round (!) games of the German football national team against teams like Georgia and Ireland drew between 11 and 13 million, for comparison.
