I meant the period in general. The Hungarians have been controlling the game for a part of the period, our passes aren't connecting and they can't hold on to the puck.

Yeah the passing is easy sign they're not prepared. When they ready it's nothing but tape to tape.

Still can't ****ing understand why Laine is forced to play RW. I mean, Jokinen literally CAN play all positions. Why forcw Laine off wing? Can't figure out a single benefit from that arragement.

Great 1st period! Started really well, had few chances too. Huge 5 on 3 which was turned to a 5 on 2 basically.

Vay is awesome!!! Has to be our #1 goalie from now on. Only 1 goal against Canada and now this performance in the first. Way to go buddy!

I'm convinced that the problem with Finland is coaching... Everybody on that 5 on 3 looked like they have no idea what they are supposed to do.

Why should be the coaching the problem? They should know how to play a 5 on 3 PP I think they exercise it in the trainings and against a team like Hungary they have to find a way to score:amazed:

This isn't so serious. Relax. I hope we turn the jets on though and start to play fully.

This is because the opponent is trying to forecheck very quickly and aggressively. The text-book response to this is to counter-attack quickly, which sometimes leads to poor passes since the players have to make them very quickly. In the end we came out looking much better in that period with tons of chances. Finishing wasn't quite there, but then again their goalie was phenomenal too. Have faith, they'll get it done  .

Yeah. Despite my posts, I am not too worried. It just annoys me that they are starting this slow every game. They look very sloppy all around. The talent disparity is so huge that this just feels like they aren't giving it their all.

Ok, one crazy and bold prediction: Hungary will keep up with Finland and keep a draw in the first period (1:1 or 2:2).

At the end it will be around 5-6 goals margin, though.

Also, too bad for Hungary that Belarus won today.
Yeah, my prediction went through :D And I still stand with my second prediction that this will be an easy victory for Finns at the end: around 5 or 6 goals margin.

I don't think anybody cares about this game, however KJ is going to lose this tournament with his idiotic coaching decisions. Another QF exit coming.

Agree, Hungary will eventually run out of energy. Good for them for still hanging up there though.

I think it is proven now that laine is LW, not RW. His dangling % is drasticly lower even against lower than Liiga competition. He knows the tricks from LW, he likes to cut in the middle and shoot. Can't do it from RW cause he must move in different way and should shoot a backhand shot, which isn't really nice idea even if you had good backhand. As result, he is trying much harder dekes than just cutting to middle. This decision is hurting the team and Laine as a player.

Every great team can have one bad day at the office, and this could be the one for our Finnish Lions. Victory is clearly coming, but instead of strong offensive eruption, numbers could be like 4-0 or so.

I'm very disappointed with our group. Respect the opponent. Play your best. You don't deserve to win.

My thoughts exactly.

I was expecting this game to be fun to watch. But our players are not playing for the flag. They are playing for themselves. But I believe in this team. Sooner than later they will wake up. They just have to.

Are you guys serious with this Jalonen hate-fest? The team has not lost once, but he has the audacity to play Lord Patrik on his slightly worse position, so he's the worst coach in history. Doesn't matter how much he's won as a coach, the random internet people always know better...

Jokinen changed, Laine got LW and we had a chance. ****ign ridiculous guy this jokinen. I hate him from now on and thats it. Why can't he ****ing play the RW. He is as good RW.

This, won every game, USA one of them, and still getting mad at the coach :D I find it funny how guys that have probably never coached a day in their life get mad at coaching even when the coach is winning games.

I don't like how he distributes ice time. Also, since you admit that he plays Laine in a worse position, can you also give me a reason why? Jokinen is comfortable everywhere.
