I disagree. Russia looked discombobulated out there for large stretches at 5v5. They can’t rely on the PP alone against the better teams.

We probably watched different games then. Half a game we just were playing for the sake of a beauty. Ovi and Kovy made passes, when they should shoot. Kucherov and Ovi coudn't shoot, being in the scoring positions and like. I'd say we stopped trying hard after 4-0 i.e. at the half of the game.

Norway hasn't really developed at the international level lately. I used to think of them as an up-and-coming team like Denmark or Germany, but sadly that hasn't happened. Among the weakest of the "2nd tier" teams in Europe imo.

May be it's just a generational thing....They are in the top division and it's pretty good.

They regressed in football as well, where they once were pretty decent. But they are still good in biathlon and skiing.

I think they were not trying too much from start, but I saw only first two periods. Very low tempo, slacking on defensive end, often too many passes right from start.

I’d say after the adrenaline rush of the very first WC game wore off, we got to see some of the warts come out.

Did you watch the game? Dadonov’s goals were just one timed plays from about three feet away, set up by some very good passing by the rest of that powerplay. Nothing to write home about.
So deadly one-timers on the PP are worthless? Scratch them. Kick Dadonov out.

P.S. I know a whole lot of players who would f... up exactly that - a great set up in front of the net. I know one player who doesn't. That is why I wrote here in the Russia thread that he is a great complementary winger for Malkin. What did he do? He scored 2 one-timer goals of Malkin's feeds which are brilliant, because you know it's Malkin(who is not at his peak anymore and can't carry a line without elite wingers and blah according to some:sarcasm:)

Norways been pretty good in football twice actually, both in the 1930's, and the 1990's. If I make it to the 2050's I may watch a third run sitting in the old folks home. But I digress. ;)

The problem for hockey in Norway is it is considered a weird sport for dumb people. Yeah. It is kind of horrible. All the other sports are very important, and they are scrying for talent. But not for hockey.

I think, it's because hockey is one medal at the Olympics (ok, two with women hockey), and biathlon and skiing - a couple of dozens.

“Deadly one-timers” from three feet away?

Dadonov scored so many goals like this, in the KHL, NHL and international tournaments. I bet, defensemen know it, and he still keeps scoring those goals. Yeah, it's a pure luck. He's just one lucky son of a bitch, and other scrubs aren't.

I think one problem for Norway is that there are too many parents coaching the children and not qualified coaches. And we need alot more rinks/arenas. The worst part is we are not moving forward . Quite boring and incredible that cross country skiing is more popular than hockey too

We beat Finland in everything except icehockey. If they can becaome one of the best in the world certainly Norway can. In 15 to 20 years maybe
