Best defence is to have the puck.. At least in Jalonens books it has been. Finland never had star filled D in skoda cups, but he has dealth with it.

Good ****ing win Boys, the Kids line is absolutely scary and good to see Kapanen finally score at this tournament. Great to see on Selanne night :) let's keep it rolling

This was my first time to a Finland game IN Helsinki, and first time to Hartwall. Finns, you were easily the loudest, most energetic bunch I've ever seen - and I've been to a lot of places. Well done!!

In the Finnish hockeysite several people have been complaining about the athmosphere. I have the feeling though, that the site is half full of people who do nothing but troll and post negativity.

Thoughts on Saarijarvi today?

Very good with the puck, good shooting, good passing and good movement on attack. Got a bunch of assists and possibly a goal(don't know if it turned out to be a tip or not in the end). Didn't really stand out to me outside the offensive zone.

Played pretty well. Was confident with the puck and didn't notice any huge mistakes he made.

Probably third best D after Tuulola and Niku. To be honest it's really hard to say anything about D's because our game is so messed up in our own zone. I'm not too confident about our chances in the quarter finals.

I don't get it. The matches have had a nice atmosphere, with the crowd reacting well to the game action. It has also been fun to see so many kids in attendance, probably thanks to the cheap tickets.

Especially impressed by his lateral movement at the offensive blue line. He seems to find a shooting lane past the first defenseman more often than not.

Thanks everyone. Expected to be pretty raw, think he was a forward still not too long ago!

Finland has a nice amount of firepower but that's about it. With that PK and D any top team will absolutely crush them. Can't see them advancing to the medal games unless they magically manage to fix that in a couple of days.

Word!

Hey my Finnish fellows check this article.

We have minor and very theoretic chance to win group B.
But we need help for Slovaks.

If Slovaks wins Russia ( i doubt that) in regulation and Finland win Czechs also in regulation Finland will win group B.

Right now standing order is next

Russia 8 points
Czech 7 points
Finland 6 points
Slovakia 3 points.

If Slovakia steals 3 points for Russkies ( not likely) and Finland will do same for Czechs.
Standing order will be next.

Finland 9 points
Russia 8 points
Czech 7 points
Slovakia 6 points

That'll mean Finland will face Denmark in saturday's quarterfinal.
But remember this is only speculation

Slovakia is so banged up, highly doubt they will get 3 points from Russsia

I doubt that too and a lot.
But Russia is always Russia and anything happen.

Bragin's Russia has proven that they have tools to made magical comebacks.
Somehow Russia is always some-kind mystery team to me and i don't know what to expect of them.

Sometimes they play like red-machine in 1970's and 1980's.
But sometimes thew meltdown totally.

Example 1-3 lead against Canada in Vancouver winter Olympic games quarterfinal 2010 turned 7-3 loss for them. But that was 5 yrs ago.

Finland's defense isn't that bad. I'm extremely impressed with Juolevi in particular.

Juolevi is really good and so are Niku and Saarijärvi.
But that what consern's me is that Sopanen is injured and he wont play against Czechs.

And if / when he has serious knee injury his tournament is over.
How Finland survives for 6 healthy defenders in their roster against top teams.

Mikkola is caused a lot heart-beating for me and his decision making is awful.
Also that mediocre PK those idiotic penalties and goalies are problems for us.
How Jalonen and his coaching staff gets those issues fixed before quarterfinals.

Somehow i don't feel good when i look our defense and goalies.
Also i have cold rink around my ass when Finland takes penalties.
Some reason i won't trust our defensive game when Keskitalo and Mikkola are on the ice.

I'm pretty sure canada led the game 3-0 at the beginning.

six mediocre defender is better than seven mediocre defender

You mean they were being lead 3-0? Canada actually led 4-1 after the first period.

Anyways, almost impossible to predict the outcome with them. I wouldn't have guessed them to have made it to the final last year and they almost came back to tie the game in the last period. Canada looked scared.

I think Slovakia will play their hearts out but will lose by 1 or 2 goals. :(

six mediocre defender is better than seven mediocre defender

Yeah maybe.
But Finnish players needs to realize that they can't take idiotic penalties all the time in every single game.
That mediocre PK and mediocre defense will destroy our medal dreams in Saturday if we don't stay out of the penalty box.
