sorry, but I'll take Russia - Canada final over Russia - Sweden any day of the week
Well sure, nothing is bigger than that, and generally a win over Canada would be considered a decent tournament for Russia hence the 2012, 2013, 2014 wjc are not considered failures.

However, the Swedes are nice, generally humble. The ****storm on hfboards if it was a Russia Sweden final would be funny too

As someone else said, me and my fellow swedish fans were great last year. But only during Sweden's games. Feel like the arenas were pretty empty the other games. In Canada people seem to go to every game they can. I love it and I wish the WJC would be there every year.

********. I had a blast in Malmö. I want it there every year.

Thank you, I got so confused with everyone talking about Barbeshev, thought I might had them mixed up  haha

Both are quality players and made good plays. Barbashev should have buried a couple of chances that Buch set him up for.

They are both steals, and have great potential, however you can tell Buchnevich has been playing against Men for the last couple of years. Just appears more mature on the ice.

I seriously dislike the Rags but they made out like bandits with that one!!! :handclap:
I hate them too  Smart drafting though. Deserve to reap the rewards for it. They also drafted Shestyorkin (118th) who will be a good goaltender in the future. Had a great game against the Swiss, I wonder who Bragin will go with :naughty:

Most recent games (last 6) have been decided by 1 goal too.

Russia has one win in their last 10 matches against Sweden at WJC level :amazed:

WJC 2014 - Semi Final Sweden 2-1 Russia
WJC 2014 - Preliminary round Sweden 3-2 Russia
WJC 2013 - Semi Final Sweden 3-2 Russia SO
WJC 2012 - Final Sweden 1-0 Russia OT
WJC 2012 - Preliminary Round Sweden 4-3 OT (That 0-3 comeback :amazed:)
WJC 2011 - Semi Final Sweden 3-4 Russia SO
WJC 2011 - Preliminary Round Sweden 2-0 Russia
WJC 2010 - Preliminary Round Sweden 4-1 Russia
WJC 2009 - Preliminary Round Sweden 5-0 Russia
WJC 2008 - Semi Final Sweden 2-1 Russia OT
lol, 7th game in a row between these two decided by 1 goal. 10 of the last 11 games won by Sweden. Russia just can not beat Sweden even if they play well

31 wins in a row in the preliminary round for Sweden too :amazed:

I would be more pleased with this game as a Russian than as a Swede, despite the end result. I don't think this team will hold itself together in the elimination round. This is basically a pee-wee team giving the puck to the 'talented kid' (Nylander) and hoping for the best.

Tight game. Does this mean we'll face Finland in the QF? Swe-Rus games are my favorite hockey games, always very offensive minded bouts and evenly played with plently of emotion and just the right amount of physical play and scoring chances. It seems Russia most of the time carry the play against us but fall short when it comes to scoring.

I'm getting sick of the Nylander hype. He's not the second coming of jesus and we won't win us the championship. Aho and Söderström will. DLR and Holmström are more important forwards than Justin Bieber-Nylander.

Although the Russians had the better chances and were good value to win, I don't think the Swedes are that far off being a contender. Good finishing, great on the PP. Just need the defense to be a little more mobile and the passes to stick better when leaving their defensive zone. I expect this will improve as the games continue.

Just because you said that..Sweden will win! Luck Of The Irish my ass! When's the last time they won?

Agree on all of this, although there were games where Sweden were dominant in the past, although the last few encounters have even play.

Yes SWE vs FIN, unless Finland do something against Canada or crap it in against Germany. RUS vs SVK likely.

about canceled goal. the puck was upright so it crossed the line fully. not right decision of refs. saying that not cause im Russian. (but it's not excuse, decision is decision and after fight you don't fight; just said my opinion))

Even it's defeat, i am in a very good mood. What I have seen today was even more than I expected... my applause to our team :handclap:

and my still last wish to our team: should work better on dicipline, so a lot of silly penalties

Russia always have periods when they dominate Sweden, the problem is that it doesn't turn into wins. Carrying the play and having 1-2 lines dominating offensivenly doesn't turn into a win. That's your problem in the recent tournaments against us. The fun part as a fan is that our meetings are always close, but we seem to get the final say. Russia needs to score more goals, you're playing well beside gettin the win in the end.

Edit: The puck didn't cross the goal line, it wasn't a goal. I have been drinking all night and I could see in a few seconds that it wasn't a goal.

Arguments can be made both ways to be honest. From some angles I thought it was a goal, from others it didn't look like a goal.

50/50 call.

And since they need to prove the judgement on the ice wrong, that won't be a goal. My feeling was that it was a goal, but that it couldn't be proven.

Good game from both sides.

Do not really see what we won with this victory, this will probably mean that we will face finland. How is that good? They have to be smart. With all respect of slovakia, but they havnt been very good this tournament but finland is always hard to beat, would much rather face slovakia.

The cancelled goal is impossible to say from the camera angles that they showed.

But on the plus side, Im happy with most d-men. Aho is probably our best player both offensively and defensively. Im glad that we will most likely have acces to players like Aho and Forsling even next year.

Bristedt is also fun to watch. I think he plays more like A Karlsson did last year than A Karlsson do this year. Karlsson is invisible even if he gets a lot of ice time, to much I would say.

JDLR didnt have a good game either.

this is a crazy number considering Sweden has only won the gold once in that timespan

The game turned on that set of saves by Soderstrom. Russia was dominating at that point, but Sweden dominated after the no goal call. As an Islander's fan, it was cool seeing both Sorokin and Soderstrom play so well, both made some great saves in a great game.

 Kinda reminded me of Sochi. No goal = disorientation

Glad to hear, I personally think Barbeshev was BY FAR THE BIGGEST STEAL OF 2014 DRAFT.

Unreal that he dropped to 2nd round. top 10 player in the draft.

Hmm, he maybe was a steal and he is great. He is one of the best player in this tournament. But 2th round is after all fairly high and you have players like Aho that didn't even get drafted and he is by far the best d-men in sweden and maybe among all countries.

So even if Aho is not technically not a steal since no one was picking him, but with saying steal you are implying most underrated player of that draft, and that was Aho for sure. Seriously this scouts that earn big money from scouting players thinks that there are over 200 more talented players than Aho in that age group? They should all get fired. He should have easily been a first rounder.

Plus there are a lot of other high end talented in the late rounds, so I do not what to say that a 2 rounder is the biggest steal, since that 2 th round is fairly high and the biggest steel you will usually find in the later rounds.
