this is a game where I don't mind losing. I'd rather play Slovaks in the q/f. On the other hand, they might lose to Germany, so it's better to play to win, all in all, Swedes are not that good

I just wish some genius didn't change a format that worked great so that the outcomes of this game and of CAN-USA on NYE would actually be relevant..

Cant believe how many people wanted this game for NYE. If you're in Sweden or Russia you will miss the 12 a clock moment and everything.
So... finally thank you for not airing Sweden at New Years Eve!
Sweden will play on New Year's Eve (but I'd say it's the best possible time of the day).

I meant it in a way that's it's probably the best match up of the group so it should be played on a day when most people will see it.
Although if they played it in the afternoon, it would be over before midnight in Sweden. Either way it will be a good game and i'm excited to watch it as a neutral fan.
All this talk of how Sweden should throw the game vs Russia so that they don't have to face Finland. Sounds lovely on paper, but that's just not how any of this works!
First off, there's still plenty of round robin to be played, and you don't know if Finland will stay in 4th. Of course it seems likely. But not assured.
Secondly, that's just not how these athletes are wired. Despite what people say, nobody playing at this level is going to be mentally capable of letting themselves be beaten on purpose. You just don't work as hard as they do and then throw a game.
Thirdly, even if they do lose, and avoid Finland, who says that's a good thing? Finland (and Sweden for that matter) have very different rosters this year compared to last- and Finland seems much weaker this year than last. The biggest similarity is Juuse Saros.
I say Sweden should play their best, beat Russia, and then take on Finland if it comes to that. And if they lose, they can stuff their Saros in a sack!!

Hey, it's tradition! Back in 2011 when we faced Canada they scored exactly as the clock struck twelve. That was funny.
In 2012 we were outside watching the game on a ****** phone when the battery died with 2 minutes left so we ended up watching the glorious comeback in some complete strangers house.
A lot of talk about Sweden trying to avoid Finland in qf, but based on schedules I think it's 50/50 that this happens and these are a bunch of 19 year old kids who probably want to win every game in sight.
I don't think anybody will be trying to throw anything and both teams will go all out today.
That said, Go Russia and may Nylander have a good game (I'm a leaf fan)

Team that ends up second in the group has to travel to Montreal for the QF. Don't care about facing either Finland or Slovakia, just want the team to avoid that travel.
This could get ugly for us, if the defense doesn't get its act together against Russia my bet is a 4-1 loss.
Think Hägg looked really good without the puck. Some nice hits and good defensive work.

Well if you're at home thats ok I guess but im not gonna be, not ever, im 24 im going out.
Holmström have done ok, but I would like to see JDLR and Nylander togheter. They are the our best forward and think they would be a good match, and I think it is importent to have one killer line.

If you're going out to a place where you're unable to watch the game then you're clearly going to the wrong place. Priorities, man.
